Colombia. 6 years ago Soci, a company that gathers the experience of 18 years in audiovisual integration from its sister company, Ultimate Technology, decided to develop its own BMS building management system, hence UltimateX was born.
AVI Latin America spoke with Lucas Valencia, founder of Soci, who recalled that this idea arose with his brother Nicolás, recognizing the technological maturity of the company.
"UltimateX was born because we had been doing integration projects and when we began to reach larger projects, such as buildings, shopping centers, malls, hospital buildings, they finally ended up being done in the normal and traditional way, because there was no way to pay either the monthly fees or the licenses that the existing software requested," he recalled.
UltimateX is a system that integrates all the technological systems of a building in a single control panel, such as lighting, air conditioning, security and access, energy and electricity consumption, AV systems, networks and connectivity. And it works on all types of projects: corporate, commercial, educational, health, and more.
Lucas Valencia recalled that they started with a building in Bogotá, a project that they won thanks to the promise to make that development. Today that building celebrates 4 years with UltimateX and has LEED certification, which, to obtain and maintain it, requires building management software.
"We have tested the software in buildings of up to 20 thousand square meters. And because we do it with simple, standard technology, we can reach buildings of any size. Today we are making a new version of the BMS where we are implementing more features," he explained.
There are currently four buildings where UltimateX is integrated: one in Pereira, one in Bogotá, one in Medellín and one in Cali. Lucas Valencia mentioned that "One could say that it is very little. Yes, but they are with their own technology. And, most importantly, they are buildings that have already been with us for between one and four years. This system is available for other integrators to use in their projects. Soci's idea is to grow UltimateX."
The founder of Soci concluded that "We are the integral solution of all the systems that a building can have, from software, to management, preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance. Additionally, we offer support 7 days a week. If a customer has a problem, they give us a call, we connect to the system and we can immediately without having to go. It is proven that about 95% of the failures of a building are of software or operational logic, which can be controlled with a call."
