Latin America. Christie released VDR, a software-based performance upgrade for CineLife+ Series cinema projectors with RealLaser lighting.
Available via a simple software update, VDR brings a new dimension to the cinematic experience with precise control of laser power between frames, enabling on-screen contrast of up to 10,000:1 with a UHC lens, or 5,000:1 with a high-brightness lens. This approach reveals new levels of detail and texture in the dark areas of each scene without the need for additional hardware.
Beyond the display, VDR reduces laser energy consumption by up to 30% and increases the laser life of projectors by up to 50%, reducing the total cost of ownership for exhibitors.
"VDR offers a unique experience," says Allan Fernandes, senior product manager at Christie. "It is designed to deliver measurable improvements in both image performance and efficiency using our existing CineLife+ platform."
