Latin America. As part of its global celebration of its 80th anniversary, JBL announced the launch of the L100 Classic 80, a limited edition of its legendary L100 speaker that pays tribute to eight decades of audio innovation, engineering excellence and cultural impact.
First introduced in the 1970s, the original JBL L100 became one of the most recognizable speakers in JBL history, synonymous with the sound of a generation and the rise of high-performance home audio. The JBL L100 Classic 80 pays homage to that legacy, delivering the refined acoustics, materials, and build quality expected from JBL today.
Finished in beautiful natural oak wood veneer and a vintage-inspired brown Quadrex foam grille, accented by the gold and black JBL logo, the JBL L100 Classic 80 is as visually striking as it is acoustically powerful.
The design is further distinguished by a 12-inch woofer with a black cone, specifically selected to complement the warm oak finish and brown grille, along with a black satin wood baffle frame and the anniversary edition emblem on both the front and rear. Together, these elements reinforce its status as a key piece of design and a high-performance speaker.
The JBL L100 Classic 80 is a 12-inch, three-way bookshelf speaker, designed for powerful and dynamic stereo playback. The system features a 12-inch pure-pulp cone woofer with a cast frame and front-firing bass-reflex design, a polymer-coated 5.25-inch pure-pulp cone midrange speaker, and a 1-inch titanium dome tweeter mated to JBL's acoustic lens waveguide. Carefully adjusted crossover points and mid- and high-frequency level attenuators on the front panel allow listeners to tailor the speaker's presentation to their room and personal preferences, delivering the vibrant, captivating sound that has defined JBL for generations.
Beyond its performance and design, the JBL L100 Classic 80 is a true collector's edition created to commemorate JBL's 80 years of legacy. Production is limited to just 800 pairs worldwide, each identified with a numbered commemorative plaque bearing the signature of Principal Systems Engineer, Chris Hagen. Each pair ships as a complete set, including JS-150 speaker stands, and is delivered inside a specially designed wooden box, underlining the exclusivity and craftsmanship of the anniversary edition.
Designed for both dedicated listening rooms and refined residential spaces, the JBL L100 Classic 80 offers ideal performance for amplifiers with a 4-ohm impedance and two sets of gold-plated terminals that support bi-wiring and bi-amplification configurations. The result is a speaker that pays homage to JBL's most iconic design, while delivering the clarity, scale, and emotional impact expected from a modern, high-performance audio system.
The JBL L100 Classic 80 is part of JBL's year-long 80th anniversary that celebrates the brand's history in professional, luxury, and consumer audio, and reinforces JBL's enduring role as a champion of sound for artists, engineers, and music lovers around the world.
