Competing and Growing in the Data Center Industry

Competir y crecer en la Industria de Centros de Datos

Mexico. Today more than ever, the transformation and digitalization of companies does not stop, especially if you seek to be current in the different markets and thus access the new business opportunities offered by the digital economy.

Mexico and the world are immersed in a series of technological changes and trends that impact all economic sectors such as industry, commerce, construction, transportation, finance, agriculture, mining, services, government, communication and even education, which implies digital growth that is directly related to the strength of the Data Center industry.

However, given the lack of knowledge about the relevance of this technological sector for economic growth and development in Mexico, there are clear challenges that today have become more bearable with the representativeness of the Mexican Association of Data Centers (MEXDC).

The working commissions: Regulation, Education, Energy and Sustainability are the main lines of action of the MEXDC and the different achievements of each one depend on the work of the associated companies that today total 86 partners, main partners and associates.

The four commissions are actively working on strategic meetings with the different decision-makers and institutions, such as the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT), the Federal Ministry of Economy (SE) and the state of Nuevo León, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT), the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), the National Center for Energy Control (CENACE), the Secretariat of Sustainable Development of Querétaro (SEDESU), the Polytechnic University of Querétaro (UOQ), the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ), the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), among other organizations, with the purpose of bringing to the associates the trends and best practices to boost the Data Center industry in Mexico, and achieve a higher level of certainty that allows the more than nine billion dollars planned, according to the study we carried out at the MEXDC, in order to invest in our country in the next five years, they materialize.

In addition to representing a united industry, which today is fundamental for the integral development of Mexico, the MEXDC is clearly an exclusive platform for associates who work for a level playing field to create a direct link between the leaders of each associated company and generate an economic spillover with opportunities for the entire industry.

In the current development landscape in Mexico, we need to sensitize the federal and state governments, industry, academia and society in general to work together to generate an environment of certainty for investments, reduce risks and gain greater confidence in this new industry; at MEXDC we form an industrial force where the interests of all associates are represented.

The associated companies have access to a very specific knowledge space for the Data Centers, and the MEXDC is working to strengthen the official portal to offer technical and research resources on management, success stories and innovation that will be of great value to the industry, in addition to publishing very specific content and articles at an international level that add value to the national market.

The MEXDC is a tool of great value for companies; It is a clear extension of your sales team and is expected to generate networking and opportunities, as well as helping to enhance the visibility of associates' marketing campaigns.

The recent MEXDC study on the Data Center industry in Mexico, which highlights a great panorama of growth in investments and the need to distribute almost 1,500 MW for new facilities, confirms that the industry landscape needs to be orchestrated in a more comprehensive way, and coordinate the needs of all companies as an industry. This is the key axis of the MEXDC, so it is important that more companies join as associates to continue building the Association as an industrial force of great relevance in our country.
