In the financial heart of Bogotá, specifically in the emblematic Capital Tower building on Carrera Séptima and Calle 100, stands one of the most significant technological hubs in the region: the new offices of Mercado Libre Colombia.
More than just a workspace, this project is a statement of the company's investment in the country, which amounts to more than 470 million dollars, and a testimony of the fusion between architecture, art and productivity hand in hand with cutting-edge technological solutions implemented by the Colombian company Magno Pro Soluciones Tecnológicas.
German Oliveros, manager of Magno Pro, describes the project as the supply, installation and comprehensive programming of the audio and video system for Mercado Libre's new facilities. The primary objective was to create standardized and highly functional workspaces that would guarantee a professional experience and fluid communication, both for the internal team and for employees who connect remotely.
Designed for productivity
The project was developed in phases, covering a total of five floors and 4,500 square meters of construction. What Oliveros describes as "a work of art made an office", combines sculpture, painting and architecture with the highest technology. The space is designed to simultaneously house more than 1,300 people.
An outstanding architectural element is the set of stairs and internal bleachers that connect the entire floors. These structures, which add up to more than eight tons of metal, use metal sheeting, a rare material in this type of betting. To ensure the effectiveness and finish of this design, full-scale models were made before construction.
The technology implemented in the design is state-of-the-art, with remarkable integration capabilities. Acoustic insulation was a crucial requirement of the client, which is reflected in the acoustic panels of all the rooms and in the acoustic treatment applied to the structure of the walls. Additionally, the planning benefited from BIM coordination, which allowed a clean integration of the infrastructure by ceilings and technical floor with the architectural design.
On a technical level, special attention was paid to the technical rooms and the Datacenter, equipped with redundant precision air for the conservation of the equipment and a fire extinguishing system by means of a chemical agent, instead of a clean agent, a decision that demonstrates the project's commitment to the avant-garde in every detail.
Standardization and regional connectivity
Mercado Libre, in its expansion throughout South and Central America, has faced the challenge of unifying technologies in its meeting rooms and collaborative spaces. The choice of systems focused on brands that were not only certified for their Google Meet platform, but also offered presence, assurance and support in each country.
Magno Pro has emerged as a strategic ally in the region. Its successful implementation in Bogotá has been replicated in offices in Lima and Medellín, and the company has collaborated on the designs in Santiago de Chile, working in synergy with Mexico to standardize technologies that work in perfect harmony throughout the region.
According to German Oliveros, these results have provided confidence and stability to Mercado Libre's communications, which translates into a relationship of trust that has led the company to continue entrusting its projects to Magno Pro.
Technology in detail
The project included audio, video and control systems distributed in various types of rooms: Huddle Rooms, Large Rooms, Medium Rooms, a Town Hall and a Board Room.
In the main room, called Directory, Q-SYS technology was implemented with three PTZ cameras that perform auto tracking, automatically focusing on the speaker or group. The audio system is complemented by Shure mute buttons and specialized Netgear network switches for Dante audio.
The control of the room is completely automated: the lighting and smart glasses, which are dimmed according to the needs of the users, are managed by a Logitech screen that sends commands to the QSC processor. The touch panel controls a large-format Samsung LED display, providing a unified experience during video conferencing.
Collaborative and multimedia spaces
Other collaboration spaces have integrated video conferencing bars and Logitech's Tap IP and Tap Touch, including Logitech Sight 360 cameras. Standard meeting rooms are designed for an average of 6 to 10 people, while the Board Room can accommodate up to 20. The largest space, Town Hall can accommodate more than 100 people and features a complex system of QSC cameras and sound reinforcement with synchronized Extron and QSC speakers, creating a multifunctional environment.
An innovative element is the 2x3 video wall from the Samsung brand. It uses a custom-made polarized mirror that allows content to be viewed when the screens are on, becoming a flawless and modern mirror that makes them imperceptible when they are off.
As for the specific equipment, Samsung 24/7 industrial monitors, 130" Samsung and 165" Maxhub LED screens, **Shure** ceiling microphones, QSC processors and amplifiers, Kramer wireless chargers, and Extron video distributors were used.
Overcoming design and logistics challenges
The scope of the project was not without technical and logistical challenges, which required the expert coordination of the Magno Pro team with the construction company Solpro, architects and engineers.
One of the biggest design challenges was the manufacture of the polarized mirror of 2.14 meters high by 4 meters wide for the video wall. It was decided to divide the glass into three sections, which involved multiple tests in the factory, since the tempering of this type of mirror ran the risk of losing its definition.
Another significant challenge was the installation of the 165-inch Maxhub display in the Town Hall. Due to its large size, the standard ceiling height of 2.40 meters represented a problem, especially since the customer requested that the screen be mobile, with a total height of 2.80 meters. The solution required the relocation of air ducts, fire networks, and lighting, as well as the import and modification of the original wheel support to achieve an effective height of 2.60 meters.
Finally, import logistics and the delivery times of the equipment to the country were a critical point that was successfully managed.
Effective and reliable meetings
The implementation has achieved the desired synergy, integrating different brands for the same purpose: to create an ecosystem that adapts to Mercado Libre's daily needs to achieve effective and reliable meetings.
The end customer has benefited from having spaces that are ready for any type of meeting with varying capacities, which translates into a reduction in travel expenses and, more importantly, in the unification of ideas in a group of people who interact in real time.
User satisfaction is tangible. Mercado Libre has not only delivered to Magno Pro the audiovisual equipment for its offices in Peru, but also three additional projects in Colombia, which demonstrates the confidence and high degree of satisfaction with the results obtained.
CALA Awards 2025 Winner
Mercado Libre Colombia's project is one of the main motivations for Magno Pro to participate in the CALA Awards 2025, an award of which it was the winner in its Best AV Integration Project category.
For German Oliveros, the CALA Awards represent a "window to be able to show the world our work, as well as the effort and professionalism of each person involved", and reaffirm his commitment to continue contributing to technological development in the region.
