Latin America. The CALA AWARDS, recognized for their contribution to excellence in the AV and lighting project industry in Latin America, return with their 2024 edition, organized by AVI Latin America magazine and with a ceremony within the framework of IntegraTEC Mexico. This year, the event highlights the best projects and installations carried out in the region over the past year, highlighting the transformative impact of the audiovisual industry.
For the CALA Awards organization, this type of recognition is becoming increasingly relevant, especially in the audiovisual field. "At CALA Awards we value the importance of this industry that expands our possibilities, overcoming limits and opening new doors," says Andrea Ochoa, project leader. "Creativity and innovation in this field transform our perception and experience of reality, connecting us through emotion and technology."
An industry-backed recognition
Anselmo Romero, CEO of Convergint-Mexico and winner in 2023, highlights the importance of the recognition granted by CALA in the Latin American region. "For Convergint in LATAM, these awards reflect its daily commitment to being the best service provider for its customers," says Romero. "To be valued by both industry experts and those who appreciate the quality and complexity of our projects is an honor." He thanked IntegraTEC and AVI Latin America for their role in the selection and evaluation of these awards.
Two Categories to Celebrate Excellence
In 2024, the CALA AWARDS will grow and will award prizes to projects in two categories. The first is the traditional one, which recognizes the Best AV Project in Latin America.
The new category is for the Best Lighting Project awarded in partnership with IALD, which seeks to recognize the integration of solutions and the creation of visually appealing and functional spaces based on lighting.
These two categories provide two opportunities to highlight excellence and innovation in their respective fields.
A transparent and rigorous selection process
A jury made up of industry experts will analyze each submitted project, carefully selecting three finalists in each category. The winners will be chosen through a virtual vote that will take place from July 31 to August 14, 2024, giving the audience the opportunity to participate in the selection of the winners.
Recognition and opportunities for winners
The winners of the CALA AWARDS for Best AV Project and Best Lighting Project in Latin America 2024 will receive a recognition trophy and a featured article in AVI LATINOAMERICA magazine. In addition, they will have access to exclusive networking events organized by CALA AWARDS, where they will be able to establish valuable connections with other industry professionals.
Open call for professionals from Latin America
The call is open to professionals from all over Latin America. Projects must be submitted by Friday, July 12 at 5:00 p.m., Mexico time, through the official website www.integratec.show.
Methodology for the CALA AWARDS for the Best AV Project, awarded by AVI LATIN AMERICA Magazine
The call is open to participants from all over Latin America.
AV installation is considered to be all those projects that require the integration of fixed audio, video, lighting and automation equipment and systems, which are completed and operational on the closing date of this call.
The submitted proposal must not be more than two years old at the time of the closing of the competition. Each participating entity or company may submit only one project. The materials submitted to participate may be freely used by the organization for the purposes of promotion and dissemination of the contest.
Parameters
The application of projects will be made exclusively through the website www.integratec.show.
A video of maximum 3 minutes must be recorded explaining and showing all the details of the installation. This video must be uploaded to YouTube.
The application form must be completed at www.integratec.show, adding all the required information, including the link to the video and a description as detailed as possible of the project, with aspects such as: type of installation, project objectives, equipment and systems implemented, technical characteristics, etc.
Three high-resolution photographs of the submitted project must be sent to the [email protected] email.
The deadline for project applications is FRIDAY, July 12 at 5:00 p.m., Mexico time. The submission of projects for the competition implies the acceptance of all the established parameters.
The following criteria will be taken into account when choosing the finalist projects:
The type of state-of-the-art audiovisual technologies incorporated into the project.
The degree to which audiovisual technologies positively influence people's quality of life, optimizing communication and interaction between them.
The significance that the project could have for the benefit of the region or the country.
The projects submitted may belong to the corporate, commercial, entertainment or government categories.
Methodology for the CALA AWARDS for Best Lighting Project, awarded by IALD
The CALA AWARDS in the lighting category, awarded by the IALD, seeks to recognize excellence in the design of lighting projects in Mexico. To ensure integrity and impartiality in the award process, a transparent and rigorous methodology has been established:
Call and selection of participants
• Eligibility: The call is open to ILD-certified companies and design teams that have completed lighting projects in Mexico during the last year.
Initial Assessment
Selection Committee: A selection committee composed of lighting design experts and members of the IALD will review all proposals received.
Evaluation criteria: Projects will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Innovation: originality and creativity in lighting design.
- Creativity: effective application of lighting to create unique and memorable environments.
- Energy efficiency: implementation of sustainable and environmentally friendly lighting solutions.
- Achievement of objectives: Successful achievement of the objectives of the lighting project.
- Aesthetics: Positive and harmonious visual impact on the illuminated space.

Open and technical voting
