Molybdenum Trade Forum 2013 to 'Focus on China'

CRU and CESCO are pleased to announce the details of the Molybdenum Mercantile Forum that will open on April 10 at the Grand Hyatt in the city of Santiago, Chile, as part of a week dedicated to CESCO. The forum will feature key spokespersons from the London Metal Exchange, CODELCO, Luoyang Hi-Tech Metals Co., Ltd., IMOA, National, and CRU who will speak on the long-term impact of the energy and water crisis on Chile's mining sector and consequently on the global copper market.

Among the topics to be discussed are:

--The study of Chilean growth as a molybdenum processing center and what impact this will have on the dynamics of the industry.
-- The role of molybdenum in creating more value in the Greenfield and Brownfield projects and what the impacts on prices and supplies will be.
-- How long can China's minimum capacity be maintained in the market? What could be expected from a business perspective?
-- Exploring demand prospects for alloys and stainless steel in automotive, aerospace, tubular and other related sectors
-- Why hasn't the SCI molybdenum contract worked? What measures must be taken to enable it to be imposed?
-- CRU's global supply and demand outlook:

Being one of the main derivatives of the exploitation of copper mining deposits, the future of molybdenum is of great importance to miners. Due to the uncertainty surrounding the Chinese molybdenum market, this year the forum will focus on that country, and on the impact of international molybdenum derivative projects on the economy of Chinese producers, who are among the leading producers of this metal in the world. In times of increasing pressure on profitability in mining, the equilibrium of the molybdenum market is absolutely essential for the future of this branch to be promising.

This event will provide a useful platform for discussion of these issues within the molybdenum-producing mining community and offer molybdenum-producing professionals the opportunity to exchange and ask questions of industry experts.

This forum will be held in conjunction with the XII World Copper Conference sponsored by CRU, which will take place in Santiago de Chile from April 8 to 10 as part of the annual week of CESCO. The Cru-sponsored World Copper Conference attracts more than 500 specialists, entrepreneurs and professionals from mining, finance and related industries each year.
