Gefen launched two 4K Extenders

Latin America. Digital connectivity solutions provider Gefen announced the addition of two new extension solutions. Both products use HDBaseT to provide resolutions up to 4K with various supported control methods. In addition, the maximum signal delivery range has been increased from 100 to 150 meters. Different price points and control options differentiate the two solutions, offering installation options for audio/video integrators.

The Extender 4K ELR-POL w/ RS-232, Ethernet and IR (EXT-UHD-CAT5-ELRPOL) delivers HDMI at 1080p Full HD up to 150 meters over a single CAT-5 cable, a 50-meter improvement over previous solutions. 4K UHD content is delivered up to 70 meters on a CAT-5 cable, or up to 100 meters on a CAT-6 cable.

A 10/100BaseT Ethernet connection is provided in the receiving unit on the display side, allowing for IP connectivity without the need for additional hardware or cabling needed. ELR (Extra Long Range) Gefen's implementation of HDBaseT extends up to 7.1 channels of high bit rate, lossless digital audio formats with zero delay.

The Gefen Toolbox 4K Ultra HD Extender ELR-POL w/ RS-232 and IR (GTB-UHD2IRS-ELRPOL-BLK) is an optimized solution that offers HDMI at 1080p Full HD an extended range of up to 150 meters on a CAT-5 cable. 4K UHD content can be sent up to 70 meters on a CAT-5 cable or a maximum of 100 meters on a CAT-6 cable. In each case, lossless digital audio formats, RS-232 and bidirectional IR extend along the same line. This solution also offers POL technology, eliminating the need for power in a display location.

Both extenders support resolutions up to 4K 3840x2160@60Hz, 4:2:0 Color space, and 4096x2160@24Hz with HDCP and 3D pass-through. Blocking power supplies ensures a tight connection for unbeatable performance. Surface mountable enclosures with small footprints allow easy installation.
