Christie projectors present in Independencia de Ecuador

Ecuador. The Ecuadorian rental & staging company 3Laser has just carried out a spectacular projection mapping on the façade of the Carondelet Palace, the headquarters of the Government of Ecuador in Quito, to commemorate the 206 years of Independence of the Andean country. Four Christie 3DLP technology projectors made the projection possible, which had an area of 80 meters long by 18 meters high.

The celebration, which also included fireworks and plays, was organized by the National Government and was chaired by Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa. The mapping, which lasted five and a half minutes and whose name was Libertarian Evening, told the story of the night and early morning before Independence.

The projectors, of 20,000 lumens each, were located 38 meters from the façade on a Layher structure. Each projected a quarter of the total image at its maximum native resolution of 1400 x 1050. To launch the contents, a Mac Pro with a four-output 4K video card was used, equipped with the Resolume Arena audiovisual management software. In addition, blending and warping were carried out to fit the images precisely on the irregular surface on which it was projected.

Daniel Becerra, coordinator of the event by the agency Promos Latinoamérica Ecuador S.A., says: "We were immensely surprised by the versatility of the equipment and software, since they adapted to the circumstances of the work without any setbacks, covering such a large façade a few meters away and outdoors, which allowed the more than 10,000 attendees to appreciate the mapping with a great image quality."

"The truth is that the mapping was a success and the Christie projectors had an extraordinary performance," says Ángel Cuesta, director of 3Laser. "In fact, President Correa wrote on his Twitter account congratulating the organization of the party, which fills us with joy," he adds.

3Laser is the reference company in Ecuador when it comes to large-scale projection mappings. The company has recently made videomappings for the Ecuadorian Football League, for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S6 in Guayaquil, and for the 37th anniversary of quito's declaration as a Cultural Heritage of Humanity, among many others.
