Philips lit up Mexico in campaign against cancer

altMexico. Philips Mexico joined the global campaign for the fight against breast cancer by illuminating its corporate building located in Interlomas, Mexico City, with pink LED lights and carrying out activities in the Aztec country for the prevention of this disease.

This is part of an independent project led by the company's directors in Mexico, but was inspired by the Campaign to Fight Breast Cancer promoted by the Dutch company The Estée Lauder Companies and which used Philips LED technology to illuminate buildings around the world.

Rachelle Neumann, director of corporate communication and sustainability at Philips Mexicana, told AVI LATINOAMÉRICA that "Philips is a company that is dedicated to providing products and services attending to improving the quality of life of people, and as such, for us it is imperative to work hand in hand with people in search of that well-being."

According to the official, the lighting division of the company carried out awareness activities among which the lighting of public and private buildings, as well as roads and icons of the city, stands out. In addition to giving talks at different universities and agreeing alliances with health centers to promote mammograms with preferential prices.

Precisely, the Bicentennial Viaduct, the building of the Ministry of Economy, the Bicentennial Towers in Toluca and the Philips Corporate Building, are part of the properties that could be illuminated with pink LED light.

Finally, Neumann explained the importance for Philips as a company of promoting campaigns of this type "the various activities we carried out allowed us to be closer to the public, to whom we are finally interested in carrying this message. We hope that more entities will join these types of causes, and that together we can do more to prevent disease."
