Colombia. Bose Professional collaborated with technology solutions integrator Tecnoprocesos to create the efficient audio systems that enhance the user experience at two of the Centros Felicidad community centers in Bogota.
The Happiness Centers in the towns of San Cristóbal and Fontanar del Río serve the population of these neighborhoods located on the outskirts of the Colombian capital who seek to carry out recreational, cultural or sports activities during their free time. I trust Bose Professional to integrate audio solutions in an auditorium, a multipurpose gymnasium and in different classrooms for the delivery of workshops and classes.
These spaces are part of the District Institute of Recreation and Sport (IDRD), an agency of the Mayor's Office of Bogotá, which developed a program to build community centers with modern facilities and top-quality services to meet the needs of the population. The Happiness Centers are designed and built by Colombian architects and builders through a public competition in which they present their projects. In the case of the Fontanar del Río and San Cristóbal centers, the company C&G Ingeniería y Construcciones was the winner and in turn relied on Tecnoprocesos for the integration of different systems, including audio solutions.
In addition to ensuring optimal operation and meeting the highest quality standards, the audio systems had to be versatile enough to adapt to the needs of multi-purpose spaces and offer intuitive operation to facilitate the work of the instructors and staff of the Happiness Centers.
San Cristóbal Happiness Center
In terms of acoustic performance, the large multi-purpose gym at Centro Felicidad San Cristóbal presented the biggest challenge. It is a large indoor sports venue and also serves as a venue for dance competitions or craft fairs. The venue has large windows on all four sides and two grandstand areas with a capacity for about a thousand spectators.
With the help of the team from Automa, Bose Professional's local distributor, and Bose Professional's support engineer in Latin America, Tecnoprocesos designed an audio system with ShowMatch DeltaQ line array speakers suspended from the gym's ceiling. The system consists of two ShowMatch SM10 and SM20 modules on each side and two SM118 subwoofers in the middle. And to achieve the best possible intelligibility, the system has eight RoomMatch Utility RMU208 loudspeakers distributed in the grandstand area that serve to provide information to the public attending sporting events.
The system is complemented by three PowerMatch PM8500 power amplifiers and a ControlSpace ESP-880A processor.
"The design of the ShowMatch DeltaQ modules allowed us to adjust their directionality and choose the vertical coverage needed to cover the entire court area. On the other hand, by installing the subwoofers suspended from the ceiling, we managed to project enough energy for the artists and the audience to feel it and move to the rhythm of the music," explained Javier Arias, General Manager of Tecnoprocesos.
Within the Felicidad San Cristóbal Center itself, the DesignMax DM3S loudspeakers integrate the audio system for the community workshop classrooms and the fitness, spinning, weightlifting and dance rooms. The DesignMax DM3SE was chosen for its simple installation, elegant design and efficient performance for voice, music or any other content.
