Regional expansion, Merge's next goal

Colombia. After the success and recognition achieved with the execution of projects in education, planetariums and airports, the Colombian integrator Merge has its sights set on its next objective, the international expansion of the company.

Nelson Benavides, CEO of Merge, told AVI Latin America that thanks to the integration made in the audiovisual update of the El Dorado airport in Bogotá, it has allowed them to look for projects in this sector in countries of the region and this is how they are executing the technological integration in the Aruba airport.

"We have done quite important things this year and that experience in a business like El Dorado airport is making us start to implement and look at solutions in the neighbors. We are implementing Aruba airport and we are looking at other airports regionally or nearby to give the experience we are having in Bogotá. The idea, in the future, is to have Merge headquarters in Central America and in some neighboring countries," said Nelson Benavides.

On the behavior of the audiovisual industry in Colombia during 2023, the CEO of Merge recognizes that, although it has been difficult, the balance for them is positive thanks to the projects they are currently executing.

"We are doing projects as big in the audiovisual field as the modernization of the Dorado International Airport, which includes sound in the arrival and departure of the hangars, we are doing it with Q-SYS. We are also in the process of implementing the new Cali planetarium, located in the San Fernando technology park. It's a pretty nice project for us," said Nelson Benavides.

He added about the Cali Planetarium project, that they are in charge of all the technological implementation at the level of the dome, the projection, the sound system, projection, chairs, LED screens, with the intention that it is one of the most modern planetariums in South America, for which they are working hand in hand with the builder and based on the experience of the company that represents Merge in planetariums.

"I see that there is a lot of project that is being seen, that is in execution, and the goal for us is from the moment zero, to help the client make that project a reality," he concluded.
