Recognition of female inclusion in the Tech industry

mujeres tech

Colombia. According to recent UNESCO figures, in Colombia only 24% of those working in information technology are women. Taking into account this scenario, with such overwhelming numbers, a change in the current paradigm becomes imperative, through initiatives that not only commemorate the work of women, but also generate participation in today's society.

That is why Laboratoria recognizes companies that mitigate the gender gap in the industry and technology equipment throughout Latin America, through the Latam Inclusive Tech Awards -LITA-, which in its second version aims to continue promoting training and enhancing the employability of women in the area of ICTs.

NTT DATA Colombia was recognized by Laboratoria in the Hacking the Gap category that rewards companies with comprehensive collaboration programs and focus on reducing the gender gap in the industry in conjunction with Laboratoria. NTT DATA Colombia had a growth of 18.36% from 2021 to February 2023, in the incorporation of women leaders, in addition current figures show that 32% of the company are executives, 41% leaders and 34% are part of the staff.

"The Latam Inclusive Tech Award; of Laboratoria is a great honor and fills us with pride, since it reflects our commitment to inclusion and diversity in the technological field, and our effort to always hack the gender gap by building spaces for growth and development betting on equity and inclusive leadership. At NTT DATA Colombia we are constantly working to incorporate and provide career opportunities for female talent as part of our company culture," says Jesús Ordoñez, CEO of NTT DATA Colombia.

Since its launch in Peru in 2014, Laboratoria has expanded to Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and Ecuador. It has trained more than 3000 women, placing more than 90% of them in technology jobs in Latin America. It has become a source of talent for more than 1,100 leading companies in various sectors and industries, from commerce and banking to logistics and fintech.

"Through the LITA Awards, we want to highlight companies that are committed to the inclusion of women in technology, understanding the importance of their teams being more diverse and inclusive. More and more organizations and industries understand the value that women bring to their teams and have bet on them. But we know that we need more, and that is why we encourage more companies and organizations to be protagonists of this change and help guarantee more hires throughout the year, "concludes Daniela Jaramillo, Head of Global Employability at Laboratoria.
