Colombia. There is always a lot of information stored within the av source screen and device. To ensure that you get the best image and audio results, you need to exchange information between them. This is called EDID.
If you look at the manual or specification sheet of your screen or TV, you will see that there is a complete list of manufacturer information available, such as brand, product ID, screen size, type of video input, etc. But did you know that all this information is also stored inside your display, for example: TV, screen or display device? The EDID is what allows you to communicate with your AV source to ensure the best compatibility and the best image results.
EDIDs (acronym for Extended Display Identification Data) are data structures that are used to exchange information about the characteristics of a display peripheral.
EDID is the AV industry standard for your output screen (screen, TV or projector) to automatically communicate with your AV source device (e.g. PC or BluRay Player), sending detailed information about the screen and the capabilities of the fonts (such as screen size, format and resolution).
This, in turn, allows your AV source to send the most compatible data signal to ensure the best image and audio results without the user having to manually configure the devices. Allowing product EDID data to configure settings automatically will significantly reduce any possibility of misconfigurations of the source or display device, which would otherwise affect the quality of system performance.
What EDID information is exchanged between devices?
The display and source will send a range of manufacturer and specification data, including:
- Brand
- Product Code
- Date of manufacture
- Video input type
- Horizontal and vertical size
- Supported features
- Color characteristics
- Time information
