InfoComm Show 2018 had record attendance

InfoComm. AVIXA had its first fair in the United States after the name change. The event kicked off with a record-setting TIDE conference and concluded with a trade show that attracted nearly 43,000 registered attendees, up 10 percent from the last time InfoComm was held in Las Vegas, in 2016.

Visitors to InfoComm 2018 came from 50 U.S. states and 108 countries; 20 percent of attendees were from outside the U.S. The program's 964 exhibitors anchored a massive exhibition that encompassed 550,000 net square meters of exhibits, demo rooms, and special event space, making it the largest InfoComm in history. And in a sign of enthusiastic support from InfoComm exhibitors, 94 percent of this year's exhibition space was reserved again for InfoComm 2019, a new record.

"In its third edition, TIDE [Technology, Innovation, Design, Experience.] It attracted its largest audience to consider ways to apply human-centered design to AV solutions. New programs like Design Thinking for AV and Integrated Life Day were well received, and the C2 Experience in our showroom made participants collaborate in ways they never would have imagined," said Jason McGraw, CTS, CAE, AVIXA's Senior Vice President of Exhibitions.

David Labuskes, CTS, CAE, RCDD, CEO of AVIXA, said: "The participation of InfoComm attendees in our new and changing content offerings has been very rewarding. Technology is moving so fast that it's important to try to think differently and innovate in new ways, focusing on AV customer experiences."

Other notable news from InfoComm 2018 in Las Vegas:

  • 540 attendees participated in AVIXA's three-day training sessions before the show opened, a new InfoComm record.
  • 188 professionals passed a Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) exam at InfoComm 2018, bringing the total number of CTS holders to 11,901.
  • 3,114 attendees registered for the AVIXA Seminar and Workshop at InfoComm 2018, nearly 20 percent more than the last time the show was held in Las Vegas.

"AVIXA thanks all the exhibitors, attendees and media who made InfoComm 2018 a success," said Labuskes. "I hope nothing that happened this week in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas. I encourage all of our attendees to take home what they learned and experienced and share it with their colleagues and clients. It's a great and important time to be in AV, connect people and changing the way they experience the world around them."

InfoComm 2019 will be held June 8-14, 2019 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
