Mexico. The company Altea Corp has installed in the Mundo E shopping center in Mexico City eight laser phosphor projectors of its HS Series and Christie Pandoras Box servers for a permanent mapping on the ice rink of the complex, the only projection of its kind in the country.
It is a videomapping of 34.75 x 17.26 meters that takes place every day from 7 in the afternoon on the surface of this ice rink. Thus, Recórcholis, as the installation is called, can impact its audience through personalized content with temporary themes such as Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc.
Specifically, Altea Corp has installed eight Christie D13WU-HS projectors that work in dual and were mounted in the four corners of the track at approximately 15 meters high. Each pair of projectors covers the opposite quadrant of the ice rink. These are super silent projectors of 1DLP technology that offer 13,500 ISO lumens and WUXGA resolution.
"We chose these Christie equipment above all because of the duration of their light source," says Carlos Márquez, projection director at Altea Corp. Christie HS Series projectors offer 20,000 hours of lampless operation at low cost.
"Their dimensions and weight were also crucial factors for their choice, as they are suspended on fake walls. In its operation we also noticed a high contrast (deeper blacks) and, thanks to the built-in BoldColor technology, the intensity of its colors is superior to many products with which I have had the opportunity to operate, "adds Márquez.
On the other hand, the use of blending and warping is essential to fit the images precisely into the large surface on which it is projected. "Due to the complexity of the shot and the unique position possible for this project, the cross shots required a lot of blending and warping work," explains the projection director of Altea Corp, a company specialized in the development and content of events and multimedia installations.
He adds: "Despite the light conditions and the complexity of the shot, an excellent result was achieved. They are definitely excellent projectors, and I would be happy to recommend them for installation of permanent projects."
To manage this mapping projection in Mundo E, Altea Corp has installed a Christie Pandoras Box Quad Player and a Christie Pandoras Box Manager. "These media servers allow us to control and automate all projections, offering enormous creativity and flexibility," says Carlos Márquez.
Located north of Mexico City, and with 30 million visitors a year, Mundo E is one of the most important shopping centers in the country. The mall was recently remodeled with new, modern architecture that includes more than 300 retail and entertainment venues.
