ViniloLab did mapping in the Cathedral of Cali

Colombia. Six Christie Roadster HD20K-J projectors, managed by Christie Pandoras Box, have just made possible a spectacular projection mapping on the façade of the Cathedral of San Pedro Apóstol, architectural heritage of the city of Cali, Colombia.

The mapping, which was framed within the Christmas celebrations that the Municipal Mayor's Office organizes every year, was carried out by the company Vinilo Lab, in charge of the technique and programming of the projection.

The front of the temple, 23 meters wide by 27 high, served as a canvas to represent the different characteristic sweets of the region the concept of the festivities was called Dulce Navidad and was related to the sweets of the area, which are an autochthonous heritage. The screenings were held during almost every day of the month of December in six daily functions.

A team of more than 20 people worked for six months on the creation of this show, including graphic designers, social communicators, publicists, architects and engineers. They had the best technical resources in terms of image and sound, such as christie projectors that produced a total of 120,000 lumens.

These teams were located 40 meters away from the façade in three six-meter scaffold towers, working at a resolution of 3840 x 3240. The Twist module of the projectors was key to monitoring and color correction. "The truth is that the Roadsters had an excellent performance, and I would highlight above all their color equalization that was perfect in this mapping," says Eduardo Ortega, CEO of Vinilo Lab.

In that sense, the Christie Roadster projectors of the J Series have been built to withstand the busy life and stress suffered by rental equipment and shows and to guarantee more than 20,000 lumens of rich and saturated colors. These are equipment designed for the rental market, with specific features such as built-in handles, a perfected aeration system and multiple fastening points.

To manage the projectors and synchronize all the action, the multi-award-winning Christie Pandoras Box servers were used. Pandoras Box is ideal for live events because it offers enormous creativity and flexibility. In this event we found his warping tool very useful because of the depth between the columns, windows and balconies of the church, says the CEO of Vinilo Lab.

He adds: "In addition, we had a couple of last-minute sponsors who gave us the logos on the same day of the event, but fortunately, thanks to the real-time performance of Pandoras Box, we were able to program them without having to postpone any functions."
