80% of companies in Colombia implement remote work

Colombia. Three years after the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, more than 80% of companies in Colombia continue to implement remote work at least one day a week, according to research by the Colombian Federation of Human Management – ACRIP.

In the study, which consulted more than 200 companies in the service and industry sector, and of all sizes, it was evidenced that 55.2% of employees who work remotely do so from their homes, 40.5% in the form of teleworking (from another place other than home), and 4.3% do it from their mobile device. being anywhere.

As explained by Gladys Vega, President of the Colombian Federation of Human Management – ACRIP, "one of the great lessons that the pandemic brought with it is that remote work can generate benefits for companies and workers, as long as the appropriate monitoring and productivity schemes are developed. This analysis reflects that this is a modality that will last over time."

The report also indicates that, of the companies that claimed to continue with the remote work modality, 15.8% implement it only one day a week, 24.15% do it 2 days a week, 28.5% three days a week, 8.2% four days a week, 19.6% five days and 3.8% six days a week.

In relation to the type of organizational area that works the most under the remote work modality, the study found that the areas related to administration are the ones that most use this modality (94.4%), followed by finance (70.6%), commercial (57.5%), logistics (25%) and manufacturing (10%).

By levels, employees in charge of senior professionals are the ones who make the most use of remote work at 85.7%, followed by middle management at 79.5%, junior professionals (77.5%), senior management (72.7%), technical staff (52.2%) and base personnel (31.7%).

Likewise, the research showed that many of the companies grant benefits and / or equipment to their collaborators to carry out remote work. In that sense, the data revealed that laptops are the ones that companies give the most to their employees (82.3%), followed by payments for cell phone plans (36.6%), internet connection (28%) and payment of video call tools (27.4%). Similarly, 10.4% of companies stated that they do not grant any benefit and/or tool to their employees.

Finally, the study revealed that, in relation to the impact that remote work has had on organizational results, 44.7% of companies think that this modality has had a positive impact, 18% recognize a medium impact and 8.7% say that the impact was low or minimal.
