The Lighting group of the Institute of Research in Energy of Catalonia (IREC), through Dr. Josep Carreras, has just announced the existence of a new lighting project that can be used in home automation.
This proposal of intelligent light has been called Ledmotive, and is based on two fundamental pillars that have given it its name. On the one hand there is LED technology (which consists of energy-saving luminaires with a useful life much higher than common bulbs), and on the other a microprocessor that is responsible for managing and reproducing light.
Below we provide details of the main features of this new project, and all the comforts offered by it under the slogan of intelligent lighting.
- First of all, it gives us the possibility of recording significant energy savings since this system studies, by means of a spectrometer, the places where the person who lives in the house or building moves. In this way the system will turn off the lights of those places where the mentioned individual does not circulate. In this way, the members of IREC are committed to environmental sustainability and lighting control.
- This possibility that the system studies the behavior of the people who inhabit the place, and turn off or on the lights depending on it, can also be considered as something that can be used to obtain greater security in the home, since the variation of the light can be used as a warning signal.
- On the other hand, it has the innovative possibility of reproducing in the place where it is installed, the light that for example appears in a photograph of a landscape that we have taken with our mobile.
- It also gives us the possibility of modifying the light inside our home, depending on the light that exists on the outside of it. On the other hand, it also makes it possible for us to use lighting devices as access points to the Network.
In short, these are some of the features and benefits offered by the new Ledmotive project of IREC, which has already managed to generate a lot of expectation in the environment.
