CTS, the only ANSI accredited credential in the AV industry

Latin America. Thousands of AV professionals have been certified as CTS (Certified Technology Specialist), differentiating themselves from their colleagues and demonstrating their commitment to the audiovisual industry and the company in which they work. This is the trusted certification for customers, colleagues and manufacturers.

The Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) program represents the leading credential that is recognized worldwide by audiovisual professionals.

This program has two levels, general and specialized. The general, CTS,  develops general technological solutions through the creation, operation and maintenance of AV systems, as well as the realization of audiovisual management activities that provide the best solutions to meet the needs of the client, both in time and budget. To apply to the specialized level it is a requirement to obtain the general.

The specialized level has the CTS-D® certifications, Specialist in Audiovisual System Design; and the CTS-I, Specialist in installation of an AV System. A CTS-D is an AV system designer who assesses needs, prepares design documents, and coordinates and collaborates with other professionals to create systems that meet customer requirements.

For its part, a CTS-I is qualified to install and maintain audiovisual systems following specifications, schemes, codes and security protocols; for the management of the logistics of the installation process; troubleshooting and troubleshooting systems, maintenance of tools and equipment; in addition to communication with customers, designers, installers, as well as with other trades, and staff who will provide the best audiovisual solutions to meet the needs of the client.

These certifications are the only ones in the AV industry accredited by ANSI under the ISO/IEC 17024 standard of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) General requirements for bodies that perform the certification of people.

Certification provides professionals with the following benefits:

A professional career, respected by AV professionals.
An open, proven and clear set of industry standards by which consumers can evaluate audiovisual providers.
Reaffirming customers about the level of competence, experience and ethical behavior.
An increase in consumer and customer confidence.
Commitment to excellence shown by hiring CTS professionals.
Increased self-confidence and the possibility of selling your work more effectively to customers.
Clear evidence of technical and professional skill.
Increased credibility among co-workers.
Increase in value and recognition with the CTS credential.
Adherence to a strict code of ethics and conduct.
Reaffirmation of competence, experience and ethical behavior.

It should be noted that to take the CTS exam it is not mandatory to have taken any course before, which means that if the candidate feels prepared to take the exam he can do so immediately. However, it is best for the professional to take InfoComm's online courses in the following order: Quick Start in the Audiovisual Industry; The Fundamentals of the AV Industry; RAVT: Recognized Audiovisual Technician and Preparatory for the CTS Exam.

The CTS exam is available in English and Spanish.

For this 2017, the values to present the exams for the CTS® Certifications and for the renewals of the same, have changed.
For developing countries, according to the World Bank, InfoComm will continue to subsidize some of the value of the exam.
