ANSI/InfoComm Standards Help Business Performance

Latin America. All entrepreneurs and professionals are looking for means and tools that make their company grow and evolve. ANSI/InfoComm Technical Standards or Standards can boost your business through access to new markets and increasing your competitive advantages. These standards define a model, a criterion, a rule or minimum requirements for the operation of certain processes in the areas of audio, video, control, documentation and sustainability.

According to Bradley A. Malone, senior instructor at InfoComm University™, PMP and president of Twin Star Consulting, many find it strange the disinterest that some professionals manifest about the correct way to carry out their functions and even more doubts generates that attitude in which it seems to be much more important to do things "your way", although it is well known that in order to achieve certain defined results there is a standard method that is tested and taken into consideration by the parties concerned.

In all industries there are standards and norms that enable improvement at different levels and serve to establish, measure and ensure a level of quality, analyze performance, verify functionality, establish reliability or guarantee service. Standards can be represented in models, criteria, or sets of rules and minimum requirements for process operation.

The professional audiovisual industry is no stranger to these dynamics. InfoComm International®, accredited by ANSI (American National Standards Institute), has developed standards for the areas of audio, video, control, documentation and sustainability that seek to deliver performance guidelines to those who work with the different systems.

Generally, people operating in the AV industry are taught how to do their job based on someone else's experience, without truly showing them why their work is done, how to do it correctly, and what method to use for optimal results. And it is in this process that the standards must be applied, because they are the key to providing the necessary information and giving meaning to the person involved in the work.

The standards are immersed in the different functions of the industry and it is important to provide practical training to professionals on how to comply with them and involve in this process all the actors of the company, this builds camaraderie, commitment and responsibility.

In Brazil, the company Businesscom, a member of InfoComm, has adopted the Technical Standards. According to Cristian Miranda, CEO of the São Paulo company, working with the ANSI/InfoComm Standards has caused a jump in the company's performance, both in the quality of the Service offered, and in the commercial bargaining power. "The Standards help us a lot in our day to day, since most customers do not know exactly what they need and in that sense the Standards allow us to choose technologies and products that will be used in our projects and support these decisions with the client."
