Datapath introduced new multi-screen controller

Latin America. A new multi-screen controller, reference Fx4-SDI, has just launched the company Datapah, aimed at the Rental & Staging and broadcast markets. To learn a little more about this product and its scope, AVI LATINOAMÉRICA spoke with Greg Babbs, sales manager of the company Datapath.

AVI: What is this new product that Datapath has just launched on the market?
Greg Babbs
: We just launched the Fx4-SDI; our customers are really excited. We have a large number of customers within the Rental & Staging and broadcast markets in Latin America who already use our x4 and Fx4 multi-display controllers. Those customers had identified a requirement in these markets for an SDI version for use with projectors rather than LED displays or modules.

AVI: What are the main features of the Fx4-SDI?
Greg Babbs:
The Fx4-SDI has 3 input connectors - 3G-SDI, DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 1.4. It also has 4 3G-SDI outputs. This is the key! This means customers can take a high-resolution graphics output (via DisplayPort or HDMI) and use the Fx4-SDI to do pixel mapping and signal-to-SDI conversion for use with projectors.

The Fx4-SDI will perform, user-defined, cropping, up/down scaling, and rotation, all within a single device. But it's the signal conversion from DisplayPort/HDMI to SDI that really has customers excited about.

AVI: What is the market focus for this product?
Greg Babbs:
Our main focus of the market is SDI device users who are generating their video content using PC graphics. Pixel mapping has already been available to these users for many years with our x4 and Fx4, but it has long been an industry-wide challenge how to receive video content generated with powerful computer graphics cards in SDI display devices. We hope we have brought the solution to the industry!

AVI: When will this product be available to the Latin American audiovisual industry?
Greg Babbs:
The product is available to order right away.

Regarding Datapath, the Mexican company Novotech will have a cocktail this Thursday, March 16 to present datapath's videowall solutions, in which Greg Babbs will be present.
