Yamaha consoles integrate with Shure wireless systems

Latin America. The Axient, QLXD, and ULXD wireless microphone systems have expanded their integration with Yamaha mixer consoles, CL and QL series. This is due to Yamaha's new firmware version 4.1, which allows sound engineers to monitor and control the key functions of these premium wireless systems from the mixing position during a show.

Sound engineers can discover connected wireless systems; identify and locate each system to the desired input channel; monitor transmitter battery status, radio frequency and audio signal level; and adjust the audio output level of receivers when Shure's AXT400, QLXD4, or ULXD4 digital receivers are connected on the same network as a Yamaha, CL series, or QL console. With Axient wireless systems, the transmitter input gain can even be controlled remotely from the mixing console via the ShowLink® Access Point.

"Wireless microphones are increasingly the foundation of live shows, but in turn they add fundamental operational parameters that wired microphones don't have," said Rob Fuhlbrugge, Senior Director of Engineering and Product Development at Shure. "This new level of integration between Shure's wireless systems and Yamaha's mixing consoles brings wired and wireless sources into the same context. By allowing sound engineers to monitor and control a wireless channel as part of the same workflow as wired microphones, the technical differences between them become virtually transparent."

These enhanced capabilities are the result of collaboration between shure's and Yamaha's engineering teams, which has been developing for many years. Previous firmware releases allowed CL series consoles to control the discovery and patching of Shure's ULXD4D and ULXD4Q receivers from the CL console's touchpad displays, without needing any Dante Controller PC software. Today's announcement signals a drastic expansion of these capabilities and their extension to Shure wireless systems without Dante equipment.
