Carioca Arenas, loud and clear sound with Community

Brazil. Community speakers were installed on the three adjoining stages of Carioca Arenas, the new construction for international events in Rio de Janeiro, and located in the heart of the Olympic Park.

The main contractor, Honeywell do Brasil, appointed Soundvision Engenharia de Audio e Video to provide the AV for the three Carioca Arenas. Community's R-series speakers were chosen for their proven track record of reliability, high performance, high intelligibility, and accurate coverage.

A combination of R.5MAX models was used to provide the dispersion patterns needed for uniform coverage of the 360-degree rest areas. In each of the scenarios the speakers are powered by Crown dCi amplifiers with BSS BLU-800 processors that lend the DSP system.

Carioca Arena 1 has a capacity of 16,000 chairs and extends over 38,000 square meters, while Carioca Arenas 2 and 3 have a capacity of 10,000 each. A total of ninety-six R.5MAX speakers have been installed in the three multi-purpose locations.

Following basketball, wrestling and judo events, Carioca Arena 1 and Arena 2 will become part of a permanent athletic training center with facilities for a variety of sports disciplines. Carioca Arena 3 hosted taekwondo and fencing competitions, and will now be transformed into a specialized sports school for 850 full-time students.

"We have extensive experience with the R series, which we installed for three of the 2014 FIFA World Cup stadiums in Brazil. Community also has a strong track record with world-class stadiums and the Carioca Arenas project has demonstrated excellent quality and reliability in the R Series in professional sports facilities," said Antonio Tadeu Torquato, Commercial Director of Soundvision.
