ViewSonic Announces New Line of Thin Clients

Latin America. ViewSonic announced its new line of thin clients, including the SC-T25 model that incorporates Raspberry's latest hardware platform, Pi 3. Thus, it expands its line of desktop virtualization infrastructure (VDI) products with the new SC-T25, SC-T36 and SC-T48 terminals, certified by Citrix.

ViewSonic recognizes the surprising success of the Raspberry Pi platform and joins the Raspberry Pi Foundation, along with Citrix Systems, Inc., to develop an affordable, high-performance desktop virtualization solution.

One of the most economical VDI products currently available is the SC-T25.   This thin client meets the computing needs of organizations ranging from SMBs to corporate, and delivers a complete desktop experience ideal for industries such as Healthcare and Finance.

In the last four years, more than 8 million Raspberry Pi devices have been sold. The third-generation Raspberry Pi 3, unveiled in February this year, offers a great combination of performance, versatility and affordability. The SC-T25 is designed to core Pi 3 specifications and is powered by a Broadcom® 64-bit quad-core ARM processor. It includes support for Bluetooth and wireless LAN networks, 1GB memory, and HDMI® video output that provides connectivity to support almost any application.

The three new products are Citrix certified and optimized with HDX technology, they are an enterprise solution tested and used daily by millions of users worldwide. The SC-T25, SC-T36 and SC-T48 offer superior 2D/3D graphics capability for a high-definition computing experience in a virtual enterprise.

"With the launch of SC-T25, SC-T36 and SC-T48 to market, ViewSonic delivers one of the lowest cost solutions in the industry for enterprises and corporations that previously had not been able to fully implement a VDI displacement," said Mike Holstein, vice president of business development and emerging technologies at ViewSonic Americas. "This family of thin clients allows users to access the benefits of a system based on virtual desktop infrastructures and provides an extremely economical solution, which favors everyone from workers with everyday knowledge to users of more complex applications."

By combining cutting-edge hardware with proven virtualization technology, these computers deliver the computing power, security, and scalability that businesses demand. ViewSonic Thin OS (VTOS), a secure Linux® operating system, is designed specifically for thin client applications, and the easy-to-use ViewSonic Device Manager (VDM 3.0) software completes the solution to deploy virtually and with minimal effort.
