New JBL outdoor speakers with 360 coverage

Latin America. In the framework of InfoComm 2016, JBL presented the speakers of the Control 80 series, which has two highly weatherproof models, specially designed to provide excellent sound quality and 360-degree coverage.

Designed to be mounted or simply above ground, the Control 80 series can be used in a wide variety of applications, including shopping malls, theme parks, sports centers, hotels, casinos, resorts, restaurants, hotels, driveways, entertainment venues and anywhere a music speaker is required.

Compact in design, the Control 80 series speakers are discreet and easy to blend in with the environment. Both models are IP56 certified, with polyethylene compounds that resist rough use in outdoor conditions. The color of the case is spread throughout the material, so the speaker will maintain its color even when scraped or scratched. A built-in transformer allows for use in 70V or 100V distributed systems, or can be adjusted to 8 ohms for low impedance operation with an easily accessible selector.

"We designed the Control 80 series to have a modern look that blends well with a variety of commercial landscapes," said Rick Kamlet, Senior Manager of the Speaker Commercial division at Harman Professional Solutions.

"Their ability to provide high fidelity and 360-degree coverage makes them very effective as ground-mounted speakers for outdoor venues where delivering high-quality audio is usually difficult."

Available in two versions, the smallest, the JBL Control 85M is a two-way speaker system, offering a highly weatherproof low-frequency 51/4-inch driver and a 3/4-inch tweeter. The 85M provides 80 watts of continuous pink noise power (320 watts of maximum continuous power) in a direct environment of 8 ohms, plus incorporates a 30 watt transformer with multiple pulsations of 70V/100V. The 85M offers a high-fidelity sound character with a wide frequency range of 55 Hz - 18 kHz.

The 88M version of the Control Series features a highly weatherproof 8-inch controller and a 1-inch tweeter, with 120 watts of continuous pink noise power (480 watts of maximum continuous power) in the direct environment of 8 ohms. In addition, it incorporates a 70 watt transformer with multiple pulsations of 60V/100V. The 88M offers better bass response with a wide frequency range of 47 Hz - 16 kHz. Both models feature SonicGuard™ overload protection to prevent damage from occasional saturation.
