Epson Augmented Reality Enhances Event Experience

International. Epson introduced guests of reigning world motorsport champions, the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1 team, to enjoy a little more than just a victorious start to the 2016 season, by introducing its Moverio smart glasses technology to the Albert Park race, bringing valuable narratives to life with this exclusive product.

One of the highlights for the 100 guests who enjoyed this experience in Melbourne was a full introduction of Formula 1, at the heart of the team's operations: the racing workshops.

Traditionally, guests enjoyed a guided tour of several functional areas, such as where race car components are prepared, where data analysts monitor the performance of the vehicles and also the team's mechanics wait prepared for the imminent pit stops.

The presentation in Australia of the Moverio smart glasses technology allowed to enrich this experience, with a wide variety of contextual content selected by the user: from a video technology commentator, live content from social networks or driver statistics, all this in large screen format and directly in front of the eyes of the viewer.

Epson's smart glasses technology allows users to see their surroundings while overlapping material projected onto the lenses, allowing guests to see in slow motion the anatomy of a pit stop or explanations of engineers' tasks.

The motion sensors of the Moverio BT-200 glasses give users the possibility to select with gestures the preferred content and contextual material, such as visualizing in a fascinating and captivating way the internal structure of the Mercedes F1 W07 hybrid vehicle. Mr. Cameron Arnold, one of the guests who has experienced the Moverio tour, commented that the experience was "absolutely captivating, valuable and instructive and a new visual experience."

Following its successful debut in Melbourne, the Moverio workshop tour will be a regular option of the Mercedes AMG Petronas experience for the team's VIP guests, across all 20 races remaining in the season, from Montreal to Monaco.

With this new activity Epson reaffirms its commitment to be a leader in digital imaging, generating innovative products and providing a unique visual experience, which captures the viewer in all their senses.
