. The high demand for LCD screens with LED backlighting has caused a shortage of these devices that will extend throughout 2010, according to data from the consultancy specialized in market analysis, iSuppli, which reported a growth in sales of 134.9% compared to 2009.The consultancy also says that 43.1% of the LCD panels used in televisions, monitors for laptops and desktop computers use LED backlighting.
One of the companies to implement this technology is the Korean LG with the Nano Full LED system, which improves the quality of the image in its LED televisions, thanks to a greater number of diodes. The LEX8 55-inch and LEX9 72-inch TVs, released in late September, are the first models to integrate this system, which also supports 3D playback.
Toshiba is another exponent of LED technology through the REGZA WL768 series TVs that was launched in early October, which have an active shutter system to reproduce 3D images without loss of Full HD quality, with a refresh rate of 200Hz.
