Information and communication network for Andalusia

altSpain. More than US$1,229 million will be invested by Telefónica in the development of infrastructures for information and communication technologies (ICT) in Andalusia.

The company announced that these actions are distributed in four lines aimed at promoting infrastructure and ICT in the community, as well as strengthening companies in the sector.

The investment, which will be made until 2012, seeks to improve information transmission networks, from fiber optics to 3G networks for cellular telephony, in addition to supporting the launch of "Proyecto Andalucía", which seeks the acceleration of new technologies in the city, especially in the administrative, educational, health and business sectors.

Additionally, Telefónica, through an agreement with Andalusian information and communication technology companies, undertook to promote the internationalization of these companies in the Latin American market. (In the photo: the city of Almeria, located in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia)
