Summit Data Center 2024 will have different venues in Mexico

Summit Data Center 2024

Mexico. Mexico City, Querétaro, Guadalajara and Monterrey will host the 2024 Data Center Summit, which will be held throughout the year and where the technological advances of the industry will be announced, as well as specific infrastructure innovations.

Among the topics to be addressed are greater efficiency, speed and capacity of these facilities, as well as best practices for sustainable development and the incorporation and growth of new technologies such as virtual reality and artificial intelligence.

Details of these editions of the event were described by executives from the companies Charo-fil, Eaton, Prysmian Group, Stulz and VIAVI, in coordination with ICREA (International Computer Room Experts Association).

"Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara are the four main hubs where investments are being made. Seeing all this dynamic, this initiative was born that excites those of us who are participating. There are many challenges in the market that we have to help solve, one of them very important is the part of the sustainable development of data centers as they are large consumers of energy, since it is said that 3% of the energy produced globally is consumed by data centers," said Enrique Chávez, Director of Critical Energy and Digital Infrastructure in Mexico at Eaton.

And he predicted: "By 2050, the need for technology and development will increase by 57%, in addition to the growth of society itself. So we have to satisfy all this, help in the part of sustainable development."

Emigdio Granillo, general director of Stulz Mexico, considered that the meetings will serve to bring new solutions to end customers. "We came together precisely at this summit so that they know the solutions that are going to be implemented in the coming years in an efficient and intelligent way, that they know each of the different portfolios and that they know how to choose precisely what is left for a certain solution. We have industry leaders and subject matter experts and the goal is to offer holistic solutions by training all implementers and end customers to know the solutions that we are going to be handling, helping them a lot to build a correct architecture."

"This is the tip of the iceberg, because at a global level the requirement for data centers is growing more and more and in the coming years we are going to have investments very surely for that same sector, to try to make data centers reach up to 300 MBA in a single property. The only thing we are seeing today is the start of these interconnectivity operations. That is where we detected that there was a very important need to consolidate a specific solution that could be taken to this type of investment. In Mexico, we are learning how the global evolution of data center infrastructure construction is going, which is what we want to do as leaders in the industry."

Arturo Báez, Channel Account Manager at VIAVI mentioned the future challenges they foresee in the industry: "Something about data centers is that the trend is to grow. You don't really see any indicator that tells us that we're going to decrease. One of the biggest problems we had was the pandemic. At the beginning of 2020 was when we began to detonate some signs of teleworking and some trends that were moving. We had 35 trillion connections in the world. We expect that by 2024 it will be around 85 trillion. This is going to be a trend and it's going to re-grow exponentially. Data centers have to be able to provide higher bandwidth, be faster and with minimal latency, have minimal error. It has to be 99.99% efficient, that's what we have to get to."

Euler Cortés, director of Prysmian's Energy and Infrastructure Area, mentioned how the venues for the summit were determined: "Why Mexico City, Guadalajara, Querétaro and Monterrey? Because these are the poles where these large investments in data centers are mainly taking place. So we want to attract and make available to them all the technological advances that we as manufacturers can offer them to help solve this problem."

"Everything will be based on ICREA's standards and current regulations, in order to update ourselves and integrators and users," said Jesús Mancilla, CEO of Charofil.

On February 29, Summit Data Center 2024 will be held in Querétaro; on a date to be determined, but in the month of April in Mexico City; then in Guadalajara in June and closing the tour in Monterrey in September. Among the companies invited to participate in the events are Equinix, KIO, Ascenty, Odata, AKF, IDOM, as well as private data centers such as Microsoft or Amazon, among other companies.
