LG facilitates connectivity between home brands with LG ThinQ

lg

Latin America. LG ThinQ , is the bet of this manufacturer to promote connectivity between appliances of different brands, a smart home platform that works thanks to the first commercial implementation of the Specification 1.0 of the Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA for its acronym in English).

By the end of this year, the brand hopes that consumers will be able to live a simpler and more convenient experience at home, being able to control appliances from various brands – such as Samsung – in the ThinQ application.

LG's strong commitment to customer experience innovation is a testament to LG's team-up with other companies to bring the simplicity of cross-brand appliance compatibility to users around the world. The alliance will initially cover devices such as washers, dryers and dishwashers, and will gradually expand to other appliances in the future.

The adoption of HCA Specification 1.0 allows users to monitor and control their appliances and air solutions from different brands, through a single platform. Through the ThinQ app, people simply register their compatible products to start living the freedom to manage their devices in one place. Those who have an LG washing machine and a Samsung dishwasher at home, for example, will no longer have to toggle between each manufacturer's app to set their preferred wash cycle and cleaning settings.

The advent of true interconnectivity between brands embodies HCA's vision of creating a unified smart home experience. HCA, was founded in 2022 and is composed of several manufacturers of technological solutions for the home, aiming to provide cloud-based interoperability between the different platforms of the companies that are part of the organization. As a member of the board of directors of this alliance, LG has been working closely with other home appliance manufacturers, including Samsung and Vestel, to drive the adoption of this specification, increasing the convenience of users.

In addition, as part of its commitment to the expansion of smart homes, LG has also actively supported the work of the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), a global organization dedicated to developing open communication protocols for connected devices. In particular, LG contributed to the development and standardization of the Matter protocol, a communications standard for IoT (Internet of Things) in the home based on the Internet Protocol, led by the CSA.
