Epson opens museum in celebration of 80 years

epson museo

Latin America. Epson is celebrating its eightieth year on the market, a commemoration it will do with the opening of the Epson Museum Suwa at its headquarters in Suwa, Nagano, Japan.

This two-part museum, consisting of the renovated Monozukuri Museum and a new Memorial Hall, will offer visitors the opportunity to learn about the history and products of Epson's past.

The Memorial Hall is located in what was the original administrative building, whose construction was completed in October 1945. This historic building, which has been recently renovated, is now open to the public.

Epson's predecessor company, Daiwa Kogyo, Ltd., was founded in May 1942. Over the next eight decades, the company evolved while passing on its DNA as an innovative company and manufacturer. The refinement of the micromachining and precision processing technologies developed by Epson for watches, and their implementation in other areas, is what drove the company's growth.

The original administrative building from the time of the foundation has been renovated, which will be reopened as a Memorial Hall so that visitors can go back in time and experience the history of the products of a past era.

Memorial Hall exhibits cover the period up to the 1970s, during which time the building was effectively used. From the technology and skills employed in mechanical watches, to the world's first quartz watch to the EP-101 compact digital printer, from which the Epson brand comes, visitors will be able to take a look back at the efficient, compact and high-precision technologies that the Japanese company has developed since its founding.

They will open, at the same time, an eightieth anniversary website showcasing the philosophy and history of the company since its founding.

"Epson has overcome eight decades of relentlessly pushing creativity and tackling challenges. The company is committed to solving society's problems by working to achieve sustainability and enrich communities through technology," said Mario Pedreros, Regional Director for Epson Mexico.
