ShowMatch DeltaQ brings flavor to the music scene in Colombia

Colombia. The growing presence of Bose Profesional in Colombia is marked by the teamwork that distributors, integrators, the company's staff and even the users themselves have done in recent years.

Sound Republik, a distributor based in Bogotá, is one of the main promoters of this collaborative work, the company trusts in the technological quality of the products and shares that same trust with the rest of the South American industry of the production of shows.

Proof of this is the recent acquisition of one of the largest ShowMatch DeltaQ systems worldwide, which has already been used in a series of concerts in which this innovative linear arrangement speaker system has exceeded the expectations that both the Colombian community of sound engineers, as well as the event production and rental company for shows Iluminación Jaime Dussan, they had about their capacity, coverage and power.

The important music festival "Aguinaldo Boyacense", held during the second half of December 2017, was the stage in which Sound Republik showed the quality of an imposing ShowMatch DeltaQ system composed of 54 modules and 32 subwoofers, to which were added seven Bose PowerMatch amplifiers and six PowerSoft amplifiers, all of them controlled through a network with Dante protocol.

Background
"Bose diametrically changed our work as distributors of professional audio equipment and revolutionized our work and technical knowledge as integrators," says Orlando Gutierrez, general manager of Sound Republik.

When the company became involved with Bose Professional, just over four years ago, it made installations of the RoomMatch range of speakers for the Church Charismatic Mission International (MCI). That project boosted Sound Republik and motivated them to make Bose Professional their main ally in the sound of various auditoriums and churches and even as a sound provider for large events.

A big step, the decision by ShowMatch DeltaQ
Since the launch of the ShowMatch DeltaQ system worldwide, Sound Republik had in mind to acquire equipment for different projects. "During the presentations in the United States, Ecuador and Colombia the negotiations took shape and we proposed to Sound Republik to do something shocking, our intention was to make a triumphant first entry exhibiting the characteristics of ShowMatch," says Diana Quintero, manager of Bose Profesional in Colombia.

Orlando Gutierrez and the Sound Republik team decide it's time to take a big step and acquire their first ShowMatch DeltaQ system to begin with demos. And the first opportunity came without waiting long. It was Aguinaldo Boyacense, in the city of Tunja, Boyacá, an annual, week-long festival that dates back to 1955 and is already traditional during the Christmas holidays in Colombia.

"One of the most important event production companies in the region, Iluminación Jaime Dussan, meets with us, wanted to know about the ShowMatch DeltaQ system and proposed to take it to the festival that would last a week. ' If this team doesn't serve me, on the first day I pick it up,' he warned us." The challenge was enormous, but Sound Republik trusted in the system and its high performance for sound of large venues, in addition its staff was already prepared with the knowledge and experience to achieve success.

Modeler, Bose's analysis and configuration software, ensured that tunja's massive Plaza Bolívar and its 13,000 square meters could be covered perfectly with 18 boxes per side, plus an arrangement of six boxes per side for outfills and six more boxes for the front fill: a total of 54 ShowMatch modules and 32 SM118 subwoofers.

Now the challenge of installation and work was presented for a whole week, with five or ten artistic presentations a day, with different proposals: Colombian folk music, salsa, vallenato, pop, rock and even metal. An attractive test to listen to the capabilities of ShowMatch, plus the system would be operated by different local and foreign engineers.

Plaza Bolívar, the moment of truth
At first glance, for some of the artists, engineers and producers the equipment installed would not be enough to meet the demands of the festival. And visually the Bose ShowMatch system is very compact. But the doubts were dispelled as soon as the system sounded for the first time in a framework as demanding as that of the Plaza Bolívar with its 13 thousand square meters, 2,800 meters above sea level and an adverse climate that oscillated between 8º and 15º Celsius, with performances from 10 at night to 4 in the morning. Unfavorable conditions for the transmission of sound waves.

"We served more than 50 staffs of engineers and artists. And we were pleasant to discover that the ShowMatch DeltaQ had not only been liked, but had generated a perception of high value among professionals. Needless to say, the sound left the more than 25,000 attendees pleased," says Orlando of Sound Republik.

First impressions from the engineers who operated the system were very positive. "I quite liked the definition it gives in the voices, the treble is very defined, I liked that part very much, that is, it really has a very rich clarity in the "high", in the "high end" it seems to me that it is like its great quality, "said Marcelo Sanhueza, FOH engineer of the singer Nacho.

For Lucho Fernández, engineer in charge of the sound of Alkilados, ShowMatch DeltaQ was a great discovery. "In the sound check since we put on a song we were surprised. The truth was as expected by the system, let's say we were used to a much larger system physically, but the response of the system in the show was incredible," Lucho said.

"I think it's a pretty natural team, Bose is always a team that you're not used to hearing in such high-demand shows and what surprised me the most was their headroom, we had about 25,000 people here. Teams like this are the ones that have to go on the market," concluded John Buitrago, FOH engineer of Sebastián Yatra and J. Balvin.

Juan Camilo Fernández, one of the few engineers who already knew the system added: "The advantages that the assistants have is that they will enjoy a sound that has a high intelligibility, a great sound pressure, it is very powerful, it is very compact, it is a very clean system. Apart from that, the entrepreneur can assemble and disassemble the system faster, can have the virtue of assembling several systems in very short times and can with very little system do large events with large crowds."

The future is closer than it seems
Bose Professional was in the mouths and ears of important producers and engineers. The brand had made a very important impact. Very soon it would begin to appear in the riders of the production companies.

Three days after the end of the Aguinaldo Boyacense, came the call of one of the producers of Lighting of Jaime Dussan who requested again the ShowMatch DeltaQ system, now for a totally outdoor space, in an event in which the Colombian Juanes would be presented as the main artist. The system met expectations. Power, fidelity, coverage and intelligibility for the more than 40 thousand spectators of the Puerto Gaitán Summer Festival, which took place on the banks of the Manacacías River, the first days of January 2018.

Undoubtedly, Bose Profesional has a great ambassador in Colombia. Sound Republik has been able to adapt to the needs and take the opportunities that the market presents. While it is true that it was already an expert company in the sound of auditoriums and temples of worship, its business ambition and its desire to innovate have led them to form one of the pillars of the business of systems for rent and tours of Bose Profesional in South America.

Sound Republik has it very clear, this is the sound that Colombia deserves: a sound with a flavor of Bose Professional.
