Ventura Park Cancun renews audio with Bose

Mexico. Bose technology has been key in the renovation of the audio system of the newly opened mega-theme park Ventura Park, located in front of the sea in the Mexican Caribbean. The project, in charge of the company iBlue is an example of sustainability, since the existing Bose speakers were used to the maximum, heritage of the old Wet ́n Wild park, whose facilities gave rise to the new park.

Ventura Park is a mega-theme park that is part of Ventura Entertainment, who took the old Wet'n Wild, located in Cancun, and through an ambitious renovation project, recovered it for the benefit of visitors looking for adventure, fun, good food and lots of music.

In Ventura Park technology coexists with nature. The visitor can experience huge slides, pool with waves or swimming with dolphins, as well as a Go Karts track or an adventure area with hanging bridges, as well as a variety of bars and restaurants where music is the perfect accompaniment.

Damián Merlo, general manager of Ventura Park, comments: "We have the enormous challenge of attracting at least 180 thousand visitors in our first year of life and we work every day so that the public spends an unforgettable day, that they recommend us and want to return."

Ventura Park divides its thematic offer into six "worlds" that include more than 25 water attractions, adventure and aimed at the whole family. It also has other spaces focused especially on the adult public, such as "El Beach-Oh", a relaxing beach club ideal for spending the day, or "El Centro", a small convention venue inside. The proposal is complemented by twelve consumption centers, from restaurants and bars, to a couple of ice cream parlors.

9+ to 90+ Bose Professional speakers
iBlue was the company chosen to sound the huge extension of the park that reaches seven hectares, numerous attractions, long distances and that -being a reconstruction work- it was not possible to make new pipelines for wiring or break walls; it had to be adapted to the original infrastructure. Alfredo Loman, director of iBlue, achieved that and more, capturing the trust of Ventura Park customers by letting them know that he could reuse some of the existing audio equipment in the inventory of the former Wet'n Wild park and that it would offer a truly comprehensive sound project.

"Honesty was key in the project, I sought to reuse the sound equipment inherited from Wet'n Wild, I sent it to maintenance and renovation. For this, I received great support from Bose Profesional Mexico," says Loman. iBlue found some horns in good condition that could extend their life time with quality. "The initial idea contemplated the recovery of some model 402 speakers and others of the 802 model," says Alfredo.

Audio distributed in multiple zones
Due to the conditions of the place, there was no possibility of making a centralized audio system, so it was decided to divide the park into six zones with their respective local systems, some of them, due to their size, are divided into sub-zones. More than 90 speakers of different models and 14 amplifiers, all of them from Bose, are used for the sound of the park.

They are all local sources," explains Alfredo, "we installed a USB player system and the operators of Ventura Park manage the areas with their own music lists. This task is the responsibility of the team of DJs, who update the lists and set music daily to every corner of the park."

The beach club "El Beach-Oh", is one of the key areas because it must offer a combination of relaxation and festive atmosphere. The Beach-Oh uses seven Bose Panaray® 802 Series IV loudspeakers powered by a PowerMatch® PM4500 amplifier of 500 Watts per channel in combination with a mixing console and CD players for DJs. This area enjoys a power, coverage and fidelity that has exceeded initial expectations.

In the same club, right in front of the sea, there are small semi-private palapas, each of them sounded by a pair of FreeSpace DS16SE speakers with their own volume control and IZA 190-HZ amplifier.

The pool with waves is a busy place, where music plays a fundamental role for social contact. Around it were located 16 FreeSpace 360PII speakers (the famous "mushrooms" of Bose) that are powered by a pre-existing amplifier from the Wet'n Wild era.

In the center of the outdoor area of the pool there is a pair of Panaray 302 speakers, while in the bar two FreeSpace DS40SE speakers are used, responsible for delivering the sound at the right volume so that the music is "felt", but does not interfere with conversations.

It also highlights the Lazy River, an inland river of 300 meters in length that has its own current, so it generates a natural noise. In its layout there are living areas, restaurant and bar that are very pleasant for the public, so the music could not be missing and it was decided to sound with FreeSpace DS16SE speakers, suspended in the lighting poles.

Even the area of the spectacular zip lines has Bose sound with FreeSpace DS16SE speakers. "It is something unexpected and that is very exciting, because of the hot temperature and the air current, you can hear the music while advancing along the route of the zip line, which the public loves," says Alfredo Loman.

The Ahh! Ventura, with its suspension bridges and access to the tower from where slides and zip lines depart, is one of those that the visitor enjoys first, hence the importance of generating a good initial impression with the sound system. It was decided to use the power and coverage of 13 FreeSpace 360PII "mushrooms" in conjunction with the Bose PowerMatch 4250 amplifier. "The quality and power impact and draw the first smile to the adventurers," says Damián Merlo.

Ventura Park offers different restaurants such as Sunrise, a gigantic palapa with capacity for 350 people, which, due to its size, meant a challenge for iBlue. FreeSpace DS16SE speakers and an IZA 2120-HZ amplifier separated into two channels were installed in it to achieve a little more power.

For its part, the shops of the park are also sounded with the very versatile FreeSpace DS16SE and the IZA 190-HZ amplifier.

The fun that sounds
iBlue managed to make Ventura Park sound like emotions. Thanks to Bose Profesional, Cancun's renovated mega-theme park offers quality audio to the ears of visitors who rejoice in the music that accompanies an unforgettable day full of adventure, comfort and smiles.
