Elation made the Super Bowl halftime show shine

Elation Luces Super Bowl 2022

United States. This year was the 56th version of the NFL championship final, where the Los Angeles Rams won. As always it had its renowned part-time show, whose lighting was in charge of the products of Elation Profesional, which guaranteed the best conditions for the show.

On February 13, the meeting was held, with the special attention of the American sports press, but also of the international public due, in part, to the fame of the artistic presentation. It can be said that there were high expectations placed on the broadcast, as the audience was 13% higher than in 2021, with 112 million viewers, according to NBC, not counting the 70,000 that filled the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.

In an average of 15 minutes, songs by hip-hop legends Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem and Mary J. Blige were performed uninterruptedly. Also the surprise performances of 50 Cent and Anderson Paak.

Al Gurdon, owner and creator of Incandescent Design, with extensive experience in this half-time show, was in charge of backlitting the show, for this he arranged a large lighting package, taking into account the ambient lighting conditions with which he had to deal, since he did not know the exact start time. In his choice he included the Proteus Maximus, Proteus Excalibur and Protron 3K Color luminaires from Elation Profesional. He also received support from the entertainment design group 22 Degrees, which also contributed to the lighting direction. Overall, the lighting system was composed of more than 600 luminaires and was supplied by PRG, while the executive producer of the program was Roc Nation.

Regarding the equipment, Gurdon said that "that was the first time I used the Proteus Maximus and I was very impressed with its functionality and its brightness." He added "we were all extremely impressed with the brightness on significant shots, that was particularly important in this half-time show as we were rolling on the boundary between full daylight and full night."

Particular scenario
The lighting formula had the challenge of following the rhythm of the music, while exalting the particular stage. In the middle of the court was located an urban composition of white color, which was composed of 5 partially open blocks that simulated various concatenated buildings. Inside each block were individual scenes, which were in turn harmonic in the face of the overall composition of the performance. Moreover, the ceilings served as a presentation platform, being some mobile and the point of attention where the opening and closing of the show took place.

All this structure was arranged on a set that simulated the aerial map of the city, where some vehicles were also located, so that the show had dancers in 3 levels of height, added the hood of the cars where they also interacted, in addition to the artists who could move through the different scenes and the ceilings.
