Xilica launched ceiling speaker system Sonia

xilica

Latin America. Xilica presented Sonia, a range of network amplifiers and ceiling speakers for IT-friendly collaboration spaces. It modernizes the audio systems installed for common network architectures in today's meeting and learning spaces, and strengthens Xilica's value proposition as a provider of complete solutions for corporate, educational and government clients.

Xilica Sonia's initial series includes the Sonia C5, a compact 5.25" ceiling speaker with a wide and uniform dispersion pattern that allows for fewer speakers in large spaces, such as classrooms and legislative chambers. Sonia C5 is powered by Xilica's new Sonia Amp, a PoE+ amplifier with integrated network switch that can power up to eight Sonia C5 daisy-chain speakers. With four individual channels, a Sonia Amp can also power The Sonia C5 speakers in four neighboring meeting rooms, resulting in additional cost savings and simplicity in implementation.

The Xilica Sonia series follows the IT-friendly design that began with the Xilica Solaro DSPs and the recently introduced Xilica Gio family of network points. Sonia Amp's integrated network switch features a PoE port suitable for supplying both power and Dante network audio to an array of ceiling-mounted microphones, such as the Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2, thanks to a single CatX cable throw to the ceiling for a complete audio system in a room. In addition, standard-grade cable connectivity between Sonia Amp and Sonia C5 eliminates the need for traditional polarized speaker cables, power calculations, and installation practices recorded by IT technicians.

For simplicity in installation, the Sonia C5 and Sonia Amp are Plenum rated and feature built-in mounting capabilities that allow Sonia Amp to be placed on the back of a Sonia C5 speaker, eliminating the need for external amplifier racks. Sonia C5 offers a removable, magnetic and fully paintable grid with removable logo to integrate into any space, and when combined with Xilica Solaro DSPs, Xilica's new VoiceMatch technology optimizes room audio and acoustics to ensure highly intelligible listening.

Shaun Robinson, Vice President of Product Management at Xilica, said, "Xilica's new generation of integrated room audio solutions offers a complete package that gives IT departments a lower total cost of ownership of AV technology assets within the many spaces they manage. Sonia takes another big step forward in developing installed audio solutions that are simple to design and implement, while optimizing costs to enable excellent audio in any space."
