SCP cables seek to grow in Latam with ConsorcioTec

matthew Garfein, Audio americasLatin America. Since 2001, Structured Cable Products Inc., SCP, is a global manufacturer and supplier of low-voltage cables and accessories for the residential and commercial integration markets. It is present in more than 80 countries around the world, where it is recognized for its wide selection and excellent value.

This year the company is looking to grow in the Latin American market. To this end, SCP partnered with sales agency Audio Americas to strengthen its distribution and presence in the Latin American and Caribbean region. In addition, it joined ConsorcioTec, the first group of integrators for Latin America, as the preferred supplier.

Matthew Garfein, President of Audio Americas, spoke with AVI Latin America about the company, presence in the region and plans for this year. He stressed that SCP offers connectivity solutions for the AV, satellite/cable, data/telecommunications and electronic security integration markets.

He added that "Bulk cables include category, coaxial, control, safety, fire, structured cables, as well as Crestron and Lutron compatible cables. SCP also manufactures direct burial, plenum and Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) versions of many cables. Our products are manufactured to the highest standards and are UL or ETL approved and exceed ANSI/TIA/EIA and ISO/IEC standards. Bulk cables have a lifetime warranty."

Linking to ConsorcioTec
On linking SCP's ConsorcioTec, Matthew Garfein said the company has experienced explosive growth in many international markets and is working to become a leading cable supplier in Latin America. "The partnership with ConsorcioTec provides an avenue to promote our brand and products with leading integrators in the region. Our goal is to establish long-term business relationships that help our integrators maximize the quality and reliability of their projects."

Among the benefits for Latin American integrators working with SCP, the president of Audio Americas highlighted that "we maintain an inventory of more than 1400 SKUs and 76 million meters of cable in our warehouses in Florida and Texas, which allows us to offer same-day shipments to freight forwarders in Miami and Laredo TX. By working with SCP, integrators can expect consistent quality, fair pricing, and an ongoing commitment to innovation and product development."

Residential market grows
Due to changing market conditions over the past year due to the pandemic, there was a decrease in demand for products that are used in commercial applications because projects were delayed or cancelled. Meanwhile, the demand for technology solutions in residential environments has increased, as more people work from home and invest in improving their domestic technology infrastructure.

The long-term result of this change is that many commercial AV and IT integrators have adopted residential projects for the first time, and this has allowed these companies to diversify their customer base, which is healthy for their business in the future.

In this regard, Matthew Garfein stressed that all SCP warehouses have remained open during the pandemic. "No company has been immune to the effects that Covid has created on the supply chain. In coordination with our production team, we have increased our warehouse inventory levels to minimize any impact of intermittent supply chain disruption caused by the pandemic. Internally, SCP has implemented all CDC recommendations for our offices and staff and, to date, we have managed to minimize the impact of Covid on our staff."
