Christie creates mapping on the Tree of Life

christieInternational. Christie's laser projection solutions are wowing visitors to two popular attractions of the Yinji Animal Kingdom, a sprawling new theme park comprising six areas and nineteen major attractions. The park has been built to boost local cultural tourism.

Located in Xinmi, a city belonging to the prefecture of Zhengzhou, capital of the Chinese province of Henan, and with an area of 570,000 m², the park houses more than 3,000 animals of species less and less present in the natural environment, in various ecological environments that emulate their habitats of origin. The place combines cultural tourism and cutting-edge technology to offer its visitors a totally new and exciting experience, which includes the amazing projections made on the Tree of Life, a sculpture 45 meters high, and inside its 4D Theater, a space with 350 seats. The two projects are being put in place by Wincomn Technology, a veteran Christie partner that uses Christie Crimson Series 3DLP® laser projectors and Christie D4K40-RGB pure laser projectors.

"As integrators of the projection systems of two of Yinji Animal Kingdom's most popular attractions, we have spared no effort to take bold and colorful visuals to take the visitor experience to new heights," said Tony Chen, CEO of Wincomn Technology. "With their outstanding performance, strength and reliability, Christie's Crimson Series and the brand's D4K40-RGB laser projectors are the ideal solutions for illuminating the Tree of Life sculpture and the 4D Theatre, respectively."

Considered by many the central element of the park, the Tree of Life sculpture consists of a gigantic tree trunk twenty-six meters in diameter, adorned with elaborate carvings representing animals, sculpted by artists of great talent. The imposing structure works during the day as a musical source, transforming at nightfall into the canvas of a hypnotic projection mapping entitled The Animal Kingdom.

A total of eight Projectors from Christie's Crimson Series have been strategically positioned to launch their bright and stunning visuals onto the uneven surface of the tree. Built to withstand the rigors of the most demanding and constantly used applications, the rugged Crimson projectors are built into Christie BoldColor Technology, a brand-owned technology that ensures large-scale images, brightness and chromatic intensity, as well as omnidirectional capabilities.

A 4D experience of great realism and immersive power
Wincomn has deployed four Christie D4K40-RGB projectors in the 4D Theater of Yinji Animal Kingdom, to illuminate a huge curved screen thirty meters wide and eight meters high and project on it the computer animation film Rio. Chen points out that the client demanded bright projections and high chromatic precision at the height of movement and atmospheric effects to get the audience to enjoy a realistic and very immersive 4D experience.

He added: "The four D4K40-RGB units are necessary to achieve the ideal level of brightness, colour and contrast on a screen of this size. With its 45,000 lumens of power, this pure laser projector operates with an exceptionally wide color gamut that covers more than 95% of the Rec.2020 color spectrum and that, in combination with TruLife electronics, 4K resolution and reproduction at 120fps, produces a simply amazing depth of detail."

Chen goes on to explain that Christie's laser projection systems have been very well received by the customer, as the stability and durability of its laser light source not only reduces the labor needs and, consequently, the operation and maintenance costs of the two attractions, but also ensures that the shows run smoothly, with high quality images and zero downtime.
