Cinema chain acquires a thousand Christie projectors

International. Cineworld Group, the world's second largest cinema exhibition chain, has signed an agreement to acquire more than 1,000 units of Christie's next generation of pure laser RGB projectors for cinema, which are equipped with Christie RealLaser lighting technology.

"At Cineworld we always pay attention to the best technologies. The aim is to reinforce the viewer's experience in the cinema. Christie and Cineworld have been good partners for many years. Christie's talent for innovation is well known, as are its excellent customer service and technical support," said Renana Teperberg, Chief Commercial Officer of Cineworld.

Cineworld has almost 9,500 screens spread over 10 geographical areas. Many of those PLF (Premium large format) theaters and large commercial cinema auditoriums will begin to enjoy Christie's RGB laser projectors this summer.

With its RealLaser lighting technology and CineLife electronic platform, Christie's pure laser RGB projector is an all-in-one model that meets DCI standards and exceeds 95% of the 2020 Rec space, with no need for filter or color correction. With its contrast and rich, deep and intense chromaticism, this solution allows to create extraordinary visuals in 2K and 4K resolution, which results in greater enjoyment of the spectators and in a series of important operational improvements for Cineworld.

Dale Miller, Christie's Executive Vice President for Cinema, explained: "Christie is honoured that Cineworld has chosen us to offer its audiences spectacular cinematic moments. An initiative that will begin with the installation of the new projectors in select rooms of the Regal cinemas distributed throughout the United States. We are committed to Cineworld to help them generate better box office performance thanks to the appeal of the technical excellence guaranteed by RGB laser projection."
