Five technological factors that enhance an audience

Latin America. Auditoriums are becoming prolific fields of technological experimentation. The most experienced bet on avant-garde such as the use of 3D, holograms and virtual reality, however it is not uncommon to find spaces where audio, video, lighting, networks and the concept of unified collaboration are constant factors in the infrastructure of public and private spaces.

The Multimedia company highlighted five technological factors that are indispensable in these places:

1 The auditorium is inside and outside
The internet and networks now allow everything to be shared, so many audiences are already preparing to share content: for this they require a robust videoconferencing platform in the cloud that allows the distribution of "open" or "private" online content through services such as YouTube or Facebook. But it also requires a system that offers streaming in real time, for this it is necessary to have a powerful internal network and an "upload" to the internet with ample bandwidth and sufficient speed.

2 Cameras are everywhere
These spaces of academic, corporate or community concurrence already bet on video as their factor of approach, retention and attraction. But for the vast majority of audiences it is virtually impossible to have "cameramen" operating video routines. Today it is already possible to form a system of robotic cameras that can follow the presenter, others that point to the audience from different angles and some more that are responsible for capturing the contents (document camera or those that are collecting what is pointed on an electronic board).

3 Lighting is theatrical.
To attract an audience requires that the content is fluid, but it helps a lot that there is a surprise factor. The old auditoriums hardly had general lights on and off. Today it is essential to have a lighting control system that allows areas and scenes according to different types of presentation, but if we add to this a concept of theatrical lighting, we will have a truly versatile venue. This requires a professional intention of dimmers according to the electrical capacity of the place, the installation of fixed wash type luminaires and some spot type robotics. Then have a real or virtual console, from which a trained lighting designer can generate emotional scenes, which can then be called from a simple "cue".

4 Sound carries the hand
Many institutions look down on sound quality for large spaces. Gross error. These days it is indispensable to make an audio design before trying to install a speaker. The sound depends on the acoustic characteristics of the enclosure, on the adequate coverage that is given to the arrangement of speakers, on the intelligibility pursued, on the versatility required, on the necessary power. But it is also necessary to be inclusive: the audio designer must think of an individual presentation, a symposium with several participants, a master class with a lot of audience participation and also contemplate the topics of translation and simultaneous interpretation, collaboration, collaboration and streaming; engineering must bet on well-selected microphones. Nor should we forget the monitoring system for the speakers.

5. The resolution and brightness of the video are the key.
It's about everyone, absolutely everyone seeing well; including the spectator of the "worst seat". It is important to consider the isoptic, of course, and consider suitable video displays. Projectors with laser source are a factor to consider because they are very bright and very low maintenance, with long life of use. It is possible to combine one or two projectors with several smaller LCD-LED displays distributed properly. Nor can we forget the monitoring displays for the speakers, as well as the aids such as teleprompter.

All of the above depends on proper planning and implementation. The new auditoriums opt for control booths where you have all the magic at hand. When an engineer or technician feels good in the cabin, when they have the right space and tools, they can deliver a better job that facilitates everything that happens on stage or podium. So the rapporteurs should only be concerned with the contents.
