Ricoh and Cisco sign strategic alliance for digital work

Latin America. Ricoh and Cisco have announced the signing of a global strategic alliance aimed at providing cloud solutions to power digital workplaces and thus offer greater productivity in an even more secure environment.

Both companies will jointly develop solutions that provide simpler and more secure environments in three layers (cloud, network and device) to promote digital transformation and improve productivity.

Currently, companies face the significant challenge of improving productivity through the use of the latest digital technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT). While multiple organizations are already promoting new ways of working, they must also address increasingly diverse work styles that are not restricted by place or time while using cloud computing and mobile devices.

At the same time, security threats such as unauthorized access and information leakage are becoming more sophisticated. A study by ponemon Institute revealed that the global average cost of breaches in business security was $3.86 million in 2018, up 6.4% from 2017.

Addressing the evolution of cyberattacks is certainly a priority, but it also involves expertise and huge costs for companies. Small and medium-sized businesses that can't afford to have IT administrators on their staff. On the other hand, large companies that have multiple locations need a solution to maintain and manage a secure environment at a low cost.

The two companies will work to provide secure, autonomous network connections for IoT devices. This will offer more secure connectivity for a diverse set of devices. The integration of Ricoh and Cisco technologies will enable the automated operation and management of connected devices and appropriate security configurations, which are increasingly demanded by enterprises, while allowing them to make proposals that support Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and IoT.

Both companies will work together to contribute to the creation of digital workplaces, which are safer and allow greater productivity thus supporting the growth of their customers.
