Educational environment, challenge for network infrastructure

Colombia. The education sector can successfully provide wireless connectivity to hundreds of devices simultaneously and, at the same time, to communications and campus security systems, as long as it has reliable and robust network infrastructures that support the current technological convergence.

According to Vladimir Linares, Technical Systems Engineer for South America at Panduit, a manufacturer of physical infrastructure solutions, "laptops, tablets, projectors and interactive screens working in parallel with intelligent lighting systems, air conditioners, and security platforms require a very robust infrastructure, often with great demands, similar to those of corporate environments."

This connectivity in the educational field, which a few years ago was a luxury, today has become a real need because we live in the generation of students who are already digital natives and therefore their classrooms and the facilities of their schools and universities must be on par with their daily technological and with their new ways of informing and communicating.

But there are many factors that influence the proper transport of data and one of them is the security that must be guaranteed taking into account the innumerable components of a transmission. In this sense, Félix Galindo, Manager of Fluke Networks and Netscout for Colombia, provider of performance, application and network management solutions, assures that you have to understand very well what data traffic is in order to provide an efficient and secure service.

"From our point of view, we have to seek assurance in the provision of services and in the control of cybersecurity in order to guarantee the reliability of businesses based on the security of the network and applications," concludes Galindo.

This reliability, fundamental in any organization, has the great responsibility of integrating with great solvency the connectivity inside the classrooms, but also outside them, since it also depends on fire systems, surveillance, voice alerts, temperature sensors, recognition of vehicle license plates and even face recognition in favor of the safety of students and teachers.

John Monastoque, business developer manager of Hikvision for Latin America, a leading company in solutions and products for video surveillance and security, affirms that technologies focused on protection today are a fundamental part of corporate, industrial and military infrastructure but has also become an important trend for educational environments.

"Today, a large part of our devices and systems are IP technology and given the prevalence of their optimal operation as security devices, it is essential for us that communication is perfect, that is why we always look for first-class allies such as Panduit that provide us with the security and quality we need in our systems and also because in the case of educational environments it is a world leader."

Technology and accessibility are here and have forever changed the limits of education that is now in the hands of the contents and training of teachers who now, with all the help they have at hand can bring the entire universe to their classrooms to enrich learning and contribute to the education of the new generations.
