De La Salle Bajio University renovated 84 projectors

Mexico. Interactive classes, with students and teachers sharing audiovisual content on screen from their mobile devices, while contributing to the conservation of the environment, are everyday scenes at the De La Salle Bajío University. To achieve this, a technological renovation program has begun in which 84 Casio LampFree video projectors provide both connectivity and image deployment functions ideal for the classroom, as well as energy-saving features, low heat emission and minimum maintenance.

Founded in 1968, De La Salle del Bajío is located in a quiet elevated area, from which you have a panoramic view of the city of León, Guanajuato. The university has large gardens, exterior corridors flanked by dozens of trees and an architectural mix that integrates in harmony with the environment. A scenario consistent with the goal of an educational institution that seeks to be sustainable and friendly to the environment.

In the technological field, De La Salle del Bajío has clear priorities, as it takes advantage of all available resources to integrate solutions that provide the best service and attention to the needs of a community of more than a thousand teachers and almost 14 thousand students. It is no coincidence that the institution is recognized, by specialized media and entities, as one of the most technologically innovative organizations in the country.

The good planning and use of resources is clearly exemplified when talking about video projection. For years, the university acquired a large number of mercury lamp projectors with which it met the requirements of displaying images of its users. However, the Department of Technological Resources keeps up to date in terms of news, so the Casio LampFree line of projectors caught their attention and was considered for the time to start with the renovation of their projection equipment.

In a first stage, 84 LampFree XJ-F20XN projectors have been installed, distributed in the different areas of the campus, from classrooms, auditoriums and technological classrooms, to virtual classrooms or the neuroscience laboratory.

According to Enrique Daniel Gutiérrez del Río, Head of Technological Resources at De La Salle del Bajío University, the decision to incorporate the mercury-free technology of Casio projectors was based on several arguments: wireless connectivity, ease of use, simple maintenance and environmentally friendly operation.

The LampFree XJ-F20XN allows users to connect their computers or mobile devices from different platforms, wirelessly or wired, to project content. This generates greater interaction between students and teachers, since up to four users can share the screen at the same time, a very useful function, both in fully face-to-face classes, and in sessions that integrate videoconferencing.

The characteristics of energy saving, low heat emission, long life in its light source, which is also free of a polluting element such as mercury, make the use of Casio projectors consistent with the policy of being an environmentally friendly university and a sustainable institution.

An eco-conscious institution
The use of technology with an ecological sense did not begin with the integration of LampFree projectors, since De La Salle del Bajío has been implementing different programs in favor of the environment for years. From the daily separation of garbage or the planting of more than 8 thousand trees, to the use of water silos for the maintenance of green areas and the generation of energy through solar panels.

The Head of Technological Resources explains that about 48% of the energy consumed by the university is generated through 1,960 solar panels. And he adds that technology is also behind the garbage separation project.

"The water silos, located at the bottom of the grass, work in conjunction with an absorbent material that facilitates irrigation, keeps the lawn green, and prevents water waste. In addition, we have an agreement with the Municipal Water System, which provides us with treated water for cleaning or irrigation of plants" adds Enrique Daniel Gutiérrez del Río, highlighting the environmental strategies of the institution.
