Latin America. Shure has been recognized by Crain's Chicago Business magazine as one of the ten most innovative companies in the Chicago area. Each year the publication's Eureka list of Chicago's most innovative companies uses measurements from Ocean Tomo, a Chicago merchant bank specializing in intellectual property, to assess the originality of patents owned by Illinois companies, as well as other factors, such as the likelihood that a company will invest money to hold, defend or use a patent on a product.
The evaluation yields an index for each organization, which is averaged across all patents granted to the company during the year. The complete list is made up of 25 companies with revolutionary ideas and high-quality patent portfolios. Companies are placed on the list based on the quality and originality of their innovations, not the total number of patents.
"We are honored by this recognition, which comes at a particularly significant time as this year marks the 50th anniversary of our iconic SM58® microphone," said Christine Schyvinck, President and CEO of Shure. "For 91 years, our employees have worked tirelessly to drive innovation and cement our position as leaders in microphones and audio systems. This recognition is a testament to their hard work and firm commitment to manufacturing products of unmatched quality, reliability and durability."
Following the company's long tradition of venturing new products into the market, last year Shure launched several innovations, including the KSM8, the world's first dual-diaphragm dynamic handheld microphone; the KSE1500, an electrostatic headphone system; the SHA900, a portable audio amplifier; and its new line of MOTIV™ digital recording microphones, with its award-winning MV88 stereo digital condenser microphone for iOS devices and the ShurePlus MOTIV™ mobile recording app.
