MEGA, a growing family business

Latin America. MEGA Systems is a LED display and lighting company based in the United States that after 16 years of existence is looking to open a market in Latin America. Its first destination has been Mexico and Central America, due to the proximity and knowledge of this market.

Guillermo Cabada, one of the founders of the company, spoke with AVI LATINOAMÉRICA about the history of the company and the plans they have for the region. The company was created by four brothers and its name brings together the initials of each one: Miguel, Elio, Guillermo and Arturo.

"Miguel and I started out as DJs, then we did mini-concerts and the festivals and big concerts arrived. Then we represented the High End lighting systems and we were acquiring experiences until on a trip to Las Vegas we came up with the idea of setting up our company," he said.

To achieve success in the family business, each of the four brothers, and even the wives of some who are also linked to the company, have defined positions: Miguel is in charge of the design and engineering of products and inventory, Elio of service, Guillermo of marketing and accounting and Arturo of sales. "Everyone has their department and we have a corporate structure in which if we have any conflict we talk about it. That has kept us stable."

Today the company has its own brand of lighting and represents LED screens, in addition, it offers structures. MEGA's plan is to offer its customers a complete solution of screens, lighting, structures and sound for entertainment, mainly focused on schools, museums, churches, rather than on tours.

"This year we hope to close with an office in Mexico, so we will be present at TecnoMultimedia InfoComm in August. In addition, we have just moved our company in San Antonio, Texas, for a new building which will allow us to have a better work structure," concluded Guillermo Cabada.
