RME provides solutions for forensic investigation

rme

Latin America. Anderson is a forensic analyst who has incorporated RME into his day-to-day life in a unique way. He began his career as a trained analyst for the U.S. Government, focusing on narrowband audio, while later also focusing on video and photo analysis.

After serving for 22 years, previous civilian work in the Navy and government, along with multiple trips to Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere, Anderson knew it was time for a major change. His division of the government sector led him to establish his own private practice, Gary Anderson Investigations LLC and launch his next project.

Anderson's career change put him in a position to work on top-tier cases with industry professionals, from private investigators to various legal teams as an expert witness. The level of detailed analysis and improvement required of Anderson requires great attention to detail and a deep understanding of the system.

After many years in this field, Anderson began to notice signs of hearing loss, which presented him with some unexpected challenges. With each case, a new level of intensity is instilled, which put added pressure on Anderson to finally face his biggest obstacle. Knowing that the progression of his practice would lead to more high-profile research, Anderson sought professional resources to find an audio solution that suited his specific need. With the interest and research experience of a company, he began a path that led him to the steps of RME. After some individual evaluations, Anderson decided on RME's ADI-2 DAC FS.

"I wanted to have hardware that didn't introduce anything that I had to factor into the software. I was looking for good build quality, low internal noise, high clock speed, no jitter and flawless drivers. I needed something that would actually produce the sound in my ears. Largely because I need to establish a normalized baseline for AB comparisons, which is affected by my hearing loss," Anderson explains. I found a company willing to search, which led me to RME and the ADI-2 DAC FS. I no longer have to worry about overloading a file to get usable audio and intelligence. This reduces the number of steps in my workflow, it's wonderful."

Anderson's work is especially crucial when it comes to evaluating evidence. He is responsible for clarifying all audio presentations pertaining to each case, which can then be used during a trial before a judge and jury. A typical analysis begins by working a specific audio file into software to compress and equalize it into a baseline.

Next, Anderson works to reduce any interference, background noise, or alternate voices, while increasing the gain and volume of the intended speaker. If any of the high frequencies are muffled, damaged, or overwritten by competitive noises, Anderson must repair and enhance them so that they can be understood. With the help of the ADI-2 FS DAC, Anderson can focus on improving speaker fidelity without worrying about compromising on quality. His vast talent and reliable setup continue to turn broken pieces of audio into intelligible evidence admissible in court.

Anderson's passion has opened an incredible door of opportunity and awakened a whole new world for RME. Forensics is an intensely complicated industry, filled with cases that carry extreme weight. Anderson is able to use his skills to piece down key clues in order to help investigators establish truth and bring peace to those in need.

With the help of RME, you are able to adapt your process to account for your hearing loss without affecting the final result. The ADI-2 DAC FS provides audio monitoring with many vital settings that compensate for hearing loss in one or both ears, including an independent, fully adjustable five-band parametric equalizer for the left and right ears. As vital cases continue to land on his desk, Anderson will use RME to revive and restore discrete frequencies back into his hearing.

"In my line of work, we follow scientific processes when processing media and it is crucial that these results are repeatable and, therefore, reliable. The only way to do that is to eliminate as many variables as possible, and with the ADI-2 DAC FS I can be sure that the signal that reaches my ears is always the same," says Anderson. "This job can mean a drastic change in someone's way of life. I want to make sure I've acted with due diligence to ensure I'm working with the purest, cleanest and most natural form of audio from the start." Precision control with repetitive results, it's music to my ears."

RME's products are distributed by Synthax.
