Mexico. Within the framework of World Environment Day, Siemens Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean presented in its 2024 Sustainability Report, the progress of its environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy.
Through its DEGREE sustainability framework, the company has consolidated its regional leadership in the creation of purpose-driven technology, aimed at transforming people's day-to-day lives and building a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable future; as well as actively contribute to facing global challenges such as climate change, through digital and technological transformation.
One of the most relevant achievements of the year was the 2% reduction in scope 1 and 2 CO₂ emissions, equivalent to 5,976 tons, despite the operational expansion resulting from the opening of new plants. This progress was possible thanks to the implementation of energy efficiency solutions, the electrification of internal processes and the promotion of electric mobility through the renovation of the executive vehicle fleet.
In terms of governance and ethics, Siemens achieved 93% compliance with mandatory training on its Code of Business Conduct, reinforcing its culture of integrity and legality. In addition, it strengthened its supplier audit and evaluation processes, integrating sustainability and cybersecurity criteria, promoting a more responsible supply chain.
Resource efficiency was also a priority. The company implemented a sintering project for the manufacture of electrical components, reducing the consumption of materials and the generation of waste. It also maintained circularity-oriented waste management practices, with the aim of achieving zero waste in landfills by 2030.
In the social sphere, Siemens continued to promote equity and inclusion. In 2024, 27% of management positions in the region were held by women, and the company was recognized as one of the best to work for for both women and the LGBTQ+ community. In addition, all employees had access to psychosocial support programs, and inclusive hiring and professional development policies were strengthened.
The social impact was also reflected in the execution of more than 20 community projects in Mexico, with the participation of 1,087 employees who contributed 2,800 hours of volunteering, benefiting more than 5,000 people. Through initiatives such as Net Zero Webinars and Workshops, Siemens fostered sustainability learning among its staff, reinforcing its sustainability-oriented organizational culture.
Finally, the expansion of its production capacity in Querétaro, Chihuahua, Nuevo León and Jalisco was carried out under sustainability criteria, including LEED Gold certifications, as well as the use of technological tools such as SiGreen for tracking the carbon footprint throughout the value chain.
Alejandro Preinfalk, President and CEO of Siemens Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, said: "Technology is the most powerful tool to build a more sustainable future. At Siemens, we combine the real and digital worlds to accelerate decarbonization, improve resource efficiency, and generate positive social impact."
With this second edition of its report, Siemens reaffirms its commitment to the well-being of people, communities and the planet, moving steadily towards a fairer, more innovative and sustainable development model.
