Smart cities, opportunity for the AV industry

lucas valencia, ultimate technology

Colombia. After the pandemic, many companies implemented remote and semi-face-to-face work for their employees. This required technological adjustments to continue the operation without problems. Now, according to Lucas Valencia, CEO of Ultimate Technology de Colombia, this trend is changing and they are increasingly looking for face-to-face.

"In 2023 an improvement is expected from the previous year, many companies, end customers and employees mention that they are tired of working at home, and not because they are not productive, more because of a social relations issue. It is also clear that we already know how to operate and work in alternation. These two behaviors have caused the concepts of VA to be reevaluated again," he said.

On the projects currently executed, Lucas Valencia gives some statistics that show the panorama of the market: "We are currently executing 19 projects in Colombia, 10% of the residential sector, 30% of the medical sector, 40% of the corporate sector, 20% of the education sector. We must also make another relationship. Of that 90%, 30% of these projects are being executed for the public sector. And we are in the process of designing and/or specifying another 40 projects in these sectors. This gives us a clear impression that our industry continues to grow, despite the difficulties that our times have had."

Another of the sectors with growth possibilities in the AV industry that highlights the CEO of Ultimate Technology, has to do with smart cities, in which developments in urban centers are taking great importance.

"AV systems have great impact and importance since BIM, GIS and SCADA systems need us to make these large urban developments increasingly easier to perform, control, operate and manage. Urban digital signage, crisis rooms, control rooms. are trends that come to our countries (LATAM), with great force thanks to the efforts being made by the IDB, in the academic training of professionals, to make our cities true Smart Cities, "he said.

Finally, he said that at InfoComm Show he hopes to know what are the changes in technology that manufacturers have had to make, in order to supply the demand, the new developments that are being raised to solve the current needs of the market and to be able to meet with friends of the industry, meet new people, colleagues, friends, and establish new relationships, that help grow and improve people's quality of life.
