Colombia. The update of the outdoor sound system for the Zapadilli Hotel in San Andrés, the installation of the ExterData room at the Externado de Colombia University and the assembly of the Planetarium in the city of Cali, are some of the projects that the Colombian company Merge is working on at the beginning of 2024. This has generated an important movement for them.
AVI Latin America spoke with its CEO, Nelson Benavides, who recalled that "We are excited about the opportunity to contribute to these significant projects, which will not only boost technological and cultural development, but will also improve the experience of those who enjoy them. When asked about the company's sustainability initiatives, he pointed out that Merge has a strategy that involves customers and strategic business allies, for which they created the Merge Foundation.
"Through it, we offer our customers the opportunity to donate equipment that they no longer use. This equipment is repurposed to support low-income schools in Colombia, providing them with audio-visual equipment that they would not otherwise be able to acquire. Not only does this initiative reduce e-waste, but it also provides tangible benefits to disadvantaged communities by improving their educational opportunities," he explained.
In addition, as part of their commitment to sustainability, they also implemented internal practices to reduce their environmental impact and encourage the responsible use of resources throughout operations.
He concluded, "We are proud to be able to offer this opportunity to our customers and to contribute meaningfully to the well-being of the communities we serve, while promoting sustainability in the AV industry."
