Mexico. For the CECyTE of the State of Guanajuato, the second largest educational system in the state, audiovisual tools are fundamental in the teaching process, so it places special emphasis on the quality, performance and useful life of the equipment it uses.
An example of this requirement is the use of portable projectors, equipment that is used daily in different classrooms, operated by teachers, students and administrative staff, and that are transported from one classroom to another to comply with the demanding program of an institution with 56 campuses. Casio, through its line of portable projectors LampFree has successfully managed to meet the needs of CECyTE Guanajuato, which since 2014 relies on the projection technology of the Japanese brand.
Currently (2016), the CECyTE (College of Scientific and Technological Studies) Guanajuato has 244 projectors distributed in its different campuses. Of this universe, 110 are Casio LampFree projectors, which are distinguished by their connectivity options, portability and use of a Laser-LED light source that provides a long life time and low maintenance cost.
The importance of CECyTE Guanajuato
Under the direction of Dr. Virginia Aguilera Santoyo, CECyTE Guanajuato is a public education institution with more than 24 years of existence, which serves more than 35 thousand students in the 56 campuses it has located throughout the state, with which a total geographical reach of the suburban and rural areas of the state is achieved, which represent your coverage goal.
The objective of this institution is to support young people from Guanajuato to obtain an academic training that provides them with greater opportunities for personal and professional growth. To do this, it focuses its educational offer on the general baccalaureate, technological baccalaureate and some technical careers that are complemented by entrepreneurship programs, cultural development and sports activities. The sum of these elements results in an integral education with a human approach.
Technological tools at the service of education
"CeCyTE is the second largest educational subsystem in the State of Guanajuato. It is currently experiencing a stage of consolidation through the construction of new spaces and the availability of technological tools, either through the provision of equipment and systems or the maintenance of them, "said Martín Daniel Serratos Ramírez, State Coordinator of Systems and Educational Informatics of CECyTE Guanajuato.
The State Coordination of Systems and Educational Informatics of CECyTE Guanajuato, in charge of the engineer Serratos Ramírez, is responsible for all the technology used in the institution. From needs analysis, equipment acquisition, systems development or process automation, to network infrastructure.
For a few years now, the use of projectors has been essential for the teaching of classes in the institution. According to the size and audiovisual needs, each campus has a minimum of two projectors and a maximum average of 15. They combine the use of fixed installation projectors, in interactive classrooms, and portable projectors, used by students and teachers in classrooms and auditoriums, as well as meeting rooms when the administrative staff requires it.
Portable projectors are in great demand, teachers constantly request them, because they know that their use represents a great support to improve the performance of their students in class. So, during a day, the same projector must go from one classroom to another, display content from different sources and be transported and operated by different teachers or students.
Since 2014, CECyTE Guanajuato has opted for Casio LampFree projector technology to meet its portable equipment needs. The institution required projectors that offered solid arguments for mobility and versatility, as well as durability, low maintenance cost and an attractive return on investment.
After a previous study of technical specifications and the corresponding competition, the decision of CECyTE Guanajuato was inclined in favor of the technology of the Casio LampFree projectors. The integrating company The Os Bajío, a subsidiary of Grupo Theos, responsible for the most recent stage of the project, was responsible for providing timely follow-up in all phases of the project under the supervision of Mónica Martínez.
According to engineer Serratos Ramírez, the responsible exercise of the public budget and its optimization are key elements in the success of technological renovation projects. The characteristics of durability and resistance that will ensure its operation for a period of 4 to 5 years with a low maintenance cost were the main arguments that were considered to opt for Casio.
"Portable projectors are constantly on the move. They go from room to room as soon as a class ends, so we didn't want to suffer with the replacement of mercury lamps that will break down from the movement or frequency of on and off. By using Laser-LED technology, Casio projectors give us the peace of mind that they will last in operation for several years," added Serratos Ramirez.
Constant technological updating
The demand for the use of projectors is such that each year the renovation or acquisition of more equipment is considered to meet the growing audiovisual needs of CECyTE Guanajuato.
In addition to the use of audiovisual tools, CECyTE Guanajuato is working on other technological projects such as updating the Internet connection infrastructure, developing an IP telephony network for all its campuses and developing an online school control system to store, share and consult the data of the 57 campuses for better academic administration.
"From teachers, students, managers, administrative staff and even parents are users of the technological tools of the institution. While students attend a class with online content that is displayed through a projector, a student's parents know their child's progress through the academic tracking portal that we make available to them. The use of technology has a positive impact on the entire community of CECyTE Guanajuato", concludes Martín Daniel Serratos Ramírez.
